I have never seen so many bad calls or calls that should have been made in my life. They need to start fining these guys when it happens.

Yes they do. I just saw Georgetown get away with a walk and all the commentators commented on the walk and it cost Vanderbilt the ballgame. That's a pathetic way to lose a game. I've seen a lot of bad calls this year. I realize they can't get them all, but it just seems to me they're missing too many this year.

Re: Georgetown traveling violation...

Players have been getting away with traveling at least since the 80s, and definitley throughout the 90s and beyond... traveling could be called on almost every possession, but they don't call it... why all of a sudden should they call it with 3 seconds left in a 1 point game?

If traveling was good enough for Michael Jordan, it's good enough for everybody. Heck, why don't the refs call players for palming the ball every time down the court? That's also against the rules.

Also, if you've "never seen so many bad calls in your life", it means either you haven't been watching basketball for very long, or your memory of what you have watched doesn't go back very far.

The refs have a lot of pressure on them. Not one Basketball ref in the world is going to make every single call in a game. I don't know what the guy above me is talking about when he says a missed travel call cost vandy the ball game, i think Georgetown would have come out on top anyways. If this was the regular season you wouldn't even be posting this, don't get mad because your brackets in shambles now.

Theres no better example than the refs from last nights Tex A&M Mephis game. I'm not saying had the guy had half a secong longer he would have made it, just saying the refs made a horrible, possible game changing call. There are, of course, many other example I could name.

I just made another post saying about the same thing. The higher seed seems to be getting ALL of the breaks at the end of each game.... look at Ohio State getting free throws under 5 seconds to go. look at Vandy/Georgetown... that guy was clearly bumped hard in the hip prior to attempting the last second shot.

I only wish that officials were held accountable for their actions. Every other job in America requires one to defend their mistakes. Why should officials be any different? They cant call a perfect game, but would put forth more effort to get better if they were interviewed at the end of each game by the media.

The refs do have alot of pressure on them so I guess you have to remember that when judging them. I totally agree with you though. I think there should be a unbiased committee of refs that can override a on court refs decision.

It's always going to be like this. There so many calls that have been missed in march madness throughout history and theres no telling what kind of outcomes we would have had if these called had been made. It's ridiculous

Yes. They missed a traveling call at the end of the Georgetown/Vandy game that resulted in me drinking more to drown my sorrows.
