Geology is the study of the earth. It has many various fields within the science which can include studying the history of the earth, minerals and rocks, water, glaciers, fossils, volcanoes, eathquakes, etc. It is a very fascinating field, especially for those you want to work ourside (at least some of the time). Many firms today hiring geologists include mining firms, geotech firms that test soils prior to construction of developments, roads, highways, dams, reservoirs, channels, etc., as well as, areas at high risk for earthquakes and landslides (or have had them), other common fields are public agencies that work with water resources (well drilling, public water, flood zones, local rivers, etc) and environmental firms who may deal with remediating contaminated soils and water. The listed sources below are various sites that list different aspects of geology.
