I have a small amount of college education, not quite an associates degree, and am unable to return to college at this time (seriously) - I have a lot of customer service experience, and am generally a happy person. I can type pretty well, have decent language skills, and learn fast.

Currently, I work in a very miserable bakery - a successful bakery, but it's a very unpleasant place. I've been there for close to 3 years, and I don't think I can stand working there much longer. I live in upstate NY, and I took a civil service exam, sent out a bunch of forms, and got no response from any of the agencies.

Any advice on what I could do with my life (besides marry a really old, rich guy - I'm in a very happy relationship, I just don't know where to go with regards to a job)? Thanks for reading this question. :)

Let me specify a little - it's not that I won't go to college, I actually can not go right now. And while I'd love to travel, it's not an option - nor is joining the services - I'm a wuss. :)

I'm living with someone, in a wonderful relationship, and he has a decent job - I would like to be able to provide more support but am curious as to what job ideas anyone has - and long term - yes, I want to go back to school, I just can not do that right now - in about 5 years, yes, now, no.... I'm just hoping for some good ideas on jobs. Thank you!! :)

My advice to you. Live as much as you can while you can. Travel to new places. See as much as you can. Soak it in, taste the local famous foods, enjoy yourself because it's only a matter of time before you either meet someone who will tie you down, or get a job that will bog you down with responsibility.

If you can, go with friends you trust and are drama-free. This probably sounds a bit "hippy-ish" but trust me... it's what I would be doing if I could.

Good luck and have fun!

Find out what you are passionate about. This is usually more difficult than it sounds. Once you know what that is, find out how you can get there. What schools do you have to visit? Do you even need a degree to do that special thing?

Don't marry rich. If you do that, then you have to rely on the mercy of your spouse. It's always better to get where you want to be by yourself. Because then you know it was all you.

Make a list of things you need to do to get where you want to be.
Good luck!

Don't send out resumes and applications if it's getting you no where. You sound like you would be a great fit in an office job of sorts. But to pull that off you have to network, sign up with temp services and show up with your resume in hand looking impeccable to business that are hiring.

Well. I'm not from NY, and I dunno how things are there. But since college is not a option, I believe if you have communication skills would enable you to open your own business since none of the agencies are calling you back.

Ever thought of joining the military or the national guard? You can go to school through them and get your career started. Its also easier to get hired if you've been in the military.
