The Democrats in the House passed their 100-hour agenda in only 42 hours. The recently passed funding bill contains a troop withdrawal deadline of September 2008 and was an extraordinary compromise measure. The investigations into the firing of the prosecutors will lead to greater revelations of wrongdoing on the part of the Bush administration. If the Democrats have been at fault in any way it is only in not having as strong a propaganda machine working as the Republicans.

What has the Republican majority done in the last TWELVE years? What about the President?
I really haven't seen ANY major congressional action for a long time, both majorities...
I think that it comes down to the fact that congressmen/women don't actually "debate" with each other; the House and Senate are rarely ever filled during that time and there is no cooperation. The politicians just push certain legislation at different times, depending on "what is hot" at the time, and really pass nothing.
I also can say that since dems have such a narrow majority that they literally can't pass anything just on their own, and nobody is really willing to work together on these issues...

I guess you mean compared to the Republicans who did nothing whatsoever for six years except let Bush do anything he pleased.
Like running up record deficits that may bankrupt the USA.
Like abrogating the Constitution. Allowing torture, imprisonment without trial, "extraordinary rendition" (outsourcing torture), etc.
Spying on Americans without warrants or legal supervision.
Ignoring the Abrahamoff scandal. The Plame scandal. The US attorney scandal. The upcoming Tobacco Settlement scandal, etc.
The whitewash of the 9/11 investigation.
That kinda stuff.
Whereas in three months, the Democrats have raised the minimum wage, served notice that (at long last) someone will attempt to stop the Bush dictatorship, cut federal spending, improved ethics and finally begun long delayed and much-needed investigations of BushCo.
In three months, the Democrats have accomplished more by accident than the pathetic rubber-stamp Republican congress did on purpose in six years.
And, I think I'm being VERY generous in my assessment of the Republicans.

Let's be truthful, they have been elected to get us out of Iraq, they also are fighting an uphill battle with the republicans to accomplish this goal. Some progress was made today in the house. The republicans have been on the offensive so long now, they still think they are making the rules. See Senator Boxer and Senator Inhofe yesterday with Al Gore, a perfect example.

No, issues weren't "rosy." We have been in 2 costly poorly performed wars, the deficit replaced into elevating promptly because of the fact we had given tax breaks to the wealthy and exceeded the charges off to our grand toddlers because of the fact the national debt replaced into elevating promptly, the value selection had a extensive shortfall and the "emergencies" like Afghanistan and Iraq weren't even interior the value selection. in ingredient of certainty that the financial gadget were in a downfall that replaced into hidden via borrowing for the full Bush presidency. with a bit of luck we can end fixing the wear and tear from the final failed Republican presidency and start to rebuilt what replaced into destroyed via the conservative time table. get waiting to get a large style of issues "shoved down" your sorry Republican obstructionist throats because of the fact we plan to repair this u . s . with you or without you and up to date background has shown that the Republicans are keen to sacrifice the solid of the country to return to power. i think of the yankee human beings won't settle for this.

Reasonable question, though it is early yet. Thanks for the link CC !! Sadly the primary activity is political posturing from both sides of the aisle , instead of much needed dialog & compromise to achieve solutions to the issues Americans are most concerned about.
The minimum wage does nothing for my family , or my ability to assist my daughter paying tuition which has increased by 400% in the last decade. Or my ability to afford health insurance.
Unless there is compromise & reasonable consideration of opposing views & priorities nothing will EVER be done that is really meaningful..........& many here will help fan the flames , by engaging in childish name calling & baseless accusations designed to bait any they disagree with or fear.

They just passed the bill to set a deadline for troop removal. You can check out and see what bills are being voted on and passed and by whom.

Check it out, if you really want to know and aren't asking an inane question.

Lots. The media doesn't publish pending bills. look at this website for recent legislation. They include rolling back the tax breaks for big oil! And a pay-as-you-go bill to reduce defict spending.

Nothing that I know of. The liberal media would be trumpeting their successes if they had any. Haven't heard any trumpets, have you.
