If the fruit falls on her side of the fence, it's hers anyway. And she could insist you cut the tree back so it doesn't overhang her side.

Your issue clearly isn't about the fruit, it's about what you see as her treatment of you. In which case, you need to address that issue face to face with your neighbor.

I wouldn't let them just go ahead and take it. That's the problem with so many kids today - they think they can just help themselves without any manners whatsoever. My parents would have made me apologize in person if I'd have ever done something like that.

Maybe you need to explain to your neighbor that they are your trees, but if the kids come to your door and ask politely, you'd be more than happy to share with them. Or, if you use the fruit for canning, jellies, etc., tell the kids if they come and help you pick, that you'll give them some, too, as a thanks for thier help.

Edit: Why don't you have the kids go with you to the shelter to see how its helping others? It would teach them something, and they could have some in the process.

First contact your neighbor and tell her what her kids are doing is he/she is not aware and if he/she is, tell her to stop or you will get the cops involved. Don't be an annoying neighbor, but if it is really a problem, then contact the police on another line OTHER than 911. File a complaint and then the police will take it from there. Don't expect any money or nice feelings from your neighbor for a long time if you do this however.

You can post a "No Trespassing" sign and inform your neighbor that you don't want their kids on your property.

If they keep coming over, then you can hire a lawyer and find out, or just call the cops and let them deal with your neighbor.

This is the part where I have to ask, Have you ever considered trespassing as a reason to hire a lawyer or call the cops?

You want to take legal action against children wanting fruit. Are you serious? Hope Judge Judy is residing your case. I would love to see what she has to say about this one.

Shelters can always use volunteers and money. I very much doubt that your reasons to attack your neighbours kids has anything to do about the fruit on your trees. Obviously you have bigger issues than that.

I think you're the one who discriminates against other and not the other way around.

They may be hungry.....how much could they eat anyway??? and will you really miss it?
Don't be selfish. That is what fruit is for, to be eaten.
If you really don't like it, cut the trees down.

My best memories as a child, to pick cherries, apples and pears from our trees and my granny's trees. You must have been a lonely child.

My bf says if they are climbing in your trees that is a different story. Maybe you could school them on getting the good fruit off the ground or on the lower limbs. I dunno, just a suggestion.

So what if you are privileged, does that make you better than God? Get over yourself already. You more than likely have never been within 50 feet of a homeless shelter. Who's fooling whom? Not us!

Obviously this goes beyond mere fruit. But if you want them to stop without any confrontations or legal actions, get a large dog or two which at least acts vicious. Be sure to post a few "beware of dog" signs at various access points to your property.

You can sue for trespass. You can also have them charged criminally with trespass and theft. Just call the cops! Infact, call the cops each and every time so that you have a good solid record of it happening before you go to court.... Take pictures if you can. :) Good luck!
