I've been working for a few years with the same company. My direct supervisor has just been amazing. She kind of reminds me of the tough but fair schoolteachers we remember fondly from grade school. She always expects my best work performance, but if I need anything special, like extra days off or a more comfortable chair or even a smile, she provides it immediately.

I would love to do something to really show her how much I appreciate everything she does. At the same time, I don't want to seem like a brown-noser.

Our relationship is based entirely in the office; we never hang out during work hours. I wouldn't feel comfortable taking her out for a meal or anything like that. Any ideas on a memorable way to say Thanks?

Take her out for coffee.
Write her a short card, and leave it on her desk with a nice potted plant.
Tell her she has impressed you so much, you'd like to learn more from her about business and ask what she feels your next step will be in your career.

Depends. What sort of things amuses her? Is she a collector (candles, mugs, figurines, books, etc.)? If you don't know, probe for information, then go from there.

Your "thank you" gift will be memorable if it is something that fits her personality and something she finds usable/encouraging.

Hope this helps!

Also, you could have an order of flowers/balloons be delivered to her while Everyone is at work! Its fun to have flowers on your desk. Makes ya feel special!
