The flight time from Chicago O'Hare airport (ORD) to Athens Int'l airport (ATH) will depend on your choices of airlines. There are no non-stop flights between Chicago and Athens, so you'll have to stop at airports such as Munich (MUC), Amsterdam (AMS), Paris Charles de Gaulle (CDG), London Heathrow (LHR), etc. The fastest trip duration is 12h 25min with a stop in Paris (CDG) onboard Air France but this option is not available on Wednesdays.

(Chicago / ORD - Paris / CDG - Athens / ATH)
(12h 25min)
Air France flight AF51 departs ORD at 17:25 and arrives in CDG at 08:50 with a flight time of 8h 25min. Then, you'll have 45min on the ground in CDG before AF1532 takes off at 09:35 and lands in ATH at 13:50 after a 3h 15min flight.

(Chicago / ORD - Munich / MUC - Athens / ATH)
(12h 30min)
Lufthansa flight LH435 leaves ORD at 14:10 and arrives in MUC at 05:55 with a flight time of 8h 45min. You'll have 1h 20min before LH3388 departs at 07:15 and arrives in ATH at 10:40 with a flight time of 2h 25min. The total trip duration is 12h 30min and this option is available every day of the week.

(Chicago / ORD - London / LHR - Athens / ATH)
If you decide to go with American Airlines & British Airways option, the total trip duration is 12h 55min with a stop in London Heathrow.

There are other 1-stop options from Chicago to Athens but these are the quickest trip duration. The actual flight time will depend on the winds, speed of the aircraft and the actual route the aircraft flies. The departure and arrival times are local.

Also, if you are flying to other city than Athens, you'll have to add flight time and time you'll spend at connecting airports (i.e. Paris - CDG, Frankfurt - FRA, Amsterdam - AMS, etc.)

I think the best thing is to choose an airline that has personal seat back in-flight entertainment. The better airlines have on demand movies or at least 10-12 movies to choose from, tv shows, documentaries, news, games and a couple of dozen audio programs from which to choose. Otherwise bring some books, magazines, games, iPod or whatever you like that keeps you entertained. Most good airlines offer great in-flight entertainment these days, there's nothing more boring than an airline that still has the old fashioned monitors hanging from the ceiling with no choice of what you want to watch.

Munich is just a huge city with: restaurant, nightlife and accommodation entries, with hotelbye , you can have a look. Munich is the capital city of Bavaria and the third-most populous city in Germany. For centuries the seat of the Dukes, Electors, and Leaders of Bavaria, the Munich Residenz is without question certainly one of Europe's many magnificent palaces. Organized about eight big courts, the vast resident complex comprises three major parts: the Königsbau, fronting in to Max-Joseph-Platz; the Alte Residenz, facing Residenzstrasse; and the Festsaalbau (Banqueting Hall) overlooking the Hofgarten. The very first part with this big complex to be created was the superb Antiquarium, built in 1579 and today area of the outstanding Residenz Museum. Munich is a town with plenty of record, make sure to investigate it whole.
