I just don't get the whole "gay" concept. I've always felt an extremely strong attraction to boys. Did you really feel this way when you were little, like you were different? Or did you just decide to be gay becuase more and more people are becoming like that?

Did you ever try to be straight, for God?

... and I've heard all the stuff that some say the bible was translated wrong - I don't believe that

I don't blame you for not understanding the "gay" concept, you're straight; of course you couldn't understand. Yes, I've always known I was different. Looking back, the first time I remember having an attraction to boys was in third grade. At the time, I had no idea why I felt this way; I just did. Have I ever tried to be straight? I've tried to hide the fact that I'm gay, I've tried to pretend that I'm straight. Do you know how hard it is to go through high school knowing that you are gay and having to listen to the homophobes making fun of gay people? I denied my sexuality throughout junior high and high school, but I decided I had to stop lying to myself. It just isn't right pretending to be something that you're not. I would never try to be straight for God, because I believe that God made me gay. You have every right to think what you want, but in my opinion, deciding to be gay is just absurd.

First of all you said that you have always felt a strong attraction to boys right? Well I have always felt a strong attraction to girls, now it seems like it would be different.....but it's totally the same feelings but for me it's the same sex i am attracted to, I guess if you are not lesbian or gay then u would never know how we feel, but it truly is the same thing. I honestly don't think someone can just become gay or lesbian just because they want to, you can choose to accept the feelings you have for the same sex and come out of the closet but you cant just turn it on and off. As for me trying to be ungay for God, well that's a no, but I was married to a man when i was 17 and i was pregnant and my dad made me get married because he thought it was the right thing to do......blah blah blah...u know he is very old fashion, i love my dad dearly but i had to break out i was SO miserable and i was not under any circumstances going to make my life a living hell so i got a divorce ASAP!!! So needless to say i couldn't ever be straight!!!!

"Die Gays!", is bulge in your pants receding, yet?

Anyway, to the original poster, I could go on and on, on a long speech about how homosexuality not only feels right, but IS right -- complete with a biblical exegesis -- but I'll just settle for "yes, gay men and women are born with their particular sexual-orientations." Just like you've always known you were straight -- and you know you were born heterosexual -- the same hold true with us. Why would it not be?

Secondly, very little to absolutely no one simply "turns gay", because everyone else is doing it. It can be a hard-life for very many of us, and as such, isn't exactly a coveted one.

It's also unfortunate that you don't believe the Bible has been possibly translated incorrectly or interpreted somewhat too strictly. Very many Christian and Judaic theologians maintain that many portions of it are (especially when it comes to matters like as these) -- and they've devoted years and years to such studies.

I've just joined this Yahoo! Answers community and I've already spent the better half of my posting defending the gay-community. I'm a little too tired for that tonight. The only thing I can offer you is to 'follow you're own path of reasoning', hopefully it'll lead you in the right direction.

Okay, simply because you asked this question in a way that didn't seem entirely prejudice and stupid, I'll give you an unbiased answer.
Though I'm not gay--I am bi--I have some idea of what they go through. You know that strong attraction you said you have to guys? That's what gay people feel for the same sex. In my case, it works both ways.
I personally don't believe in God, but I respect your beliefs, so please don't get angry about me saying that. However, this does mean I wouldn't try to change for Him. I know that there are many gay Christians/Catholics who have tried to change for God, but they simply aren't happy that way.
I think the only real way for you to understand how they feel is think of it this way:
What if the idea what that your God said you had to be gay, except to reproduce. Would you be happy that way? Would you try to change for God?

....Are you trying to be rude? well i'm not going to get mad... some people don't have an attraction to the opposite sex... or have been abused or treated badly by the opposite sex....I myself, love both! [i prefer women but i love guys!]
when i was little? yes! i was attracted to everything.....i wasn't sure what to call myself though....i don't know...
my grandmother says that people choose to be gay...I'm not sure though....I'm not even sure if there is a God....I guess we'll just have to find out eh?
I've tried most of my life to live for God and be straight.... because i was raised in a Christian and very very religious family where if you are LGBT you have some type of deadly disease!!! so i shut myself off from the world....
i am now with the love of my life [a woman] and i love here with every breath i have in my lungs.....i give my heart to her and we care for each other so so much!
the bible.....how do we even know that God wrote it??? i mean there is sooo many other bibles in the world that have different words and meanings and people get the wrong impression of what they are reading....
well ma'am believe what ever you would like.....
i would rather burn in hell for an eternity than go a lifetime without Grace's kiss\touch\embrace.....ill leave you on that note! =]

i dont get the whole "straight concept"
I've always felt an extremely strong attraction to girls. yes i felt this when i was little. and no i didnt just decide to do it coz "more" people are.
so :P

and NO im not gonna try and be straight for "god" why should i be miserable my whole life to please other people who dont know me, and for a supposed god who i dont believe in.

and i believe that even if there was a god, he wouldnt judge anyone for being gay. love is all that matters. all gay people are guilty of is being in love with someone of the same gender.
whats your problem with that?

Why do you have to "get" it?

When a gay person tells you that being gay is not a choice, it's the height of ego-centered arrogance to assume that they're lying to you.

Newsflash: Not everyone in the world is just like you. The sooner you learn to accept that, the better off everyone will be.

And lots of people don't believe in the Bible. You can choose to do so, but that doesn't mean that everyone else has to.

Get over yourself. You're not the center of the universe.

try to be strait for god? wow where do people like you get off? Judge not lest ye be judged.
People don't become gay because they are rebeling against "god" or because its a fad. It is becuse somewhere in their life they have found they are physcially attracted to the same sex. I am bi I know that I realy didnt have any interest in relationships boys or girls till later in life and when I did I liked both equaly but that is just me. Everyone who is comes to it diffrently. Who is anyone to tell someone to be strait for god or to be good. Not everyone belives and thinks like you do that is the wonderful aspect of free will and having a brain otherwise we all would be robots.

Put your Bible down, open up your mind, and walk out into the world. The whole world. Look at people who never heard of the Bible. There is a whole world out there that functions fine without your faith.

Decide to be gay?! Ooooooooh that's funny. D'you really think anyone would decide to be gay with people like "Die Gays" on the loose? It's how people are born, and people can kid themselves and pretend to be straight and happy for God's sake, but surely God would want us to be happy as we are naturally?
