Prince Charles is next in line.

The eldest son of the monarch is heir to the throne followed by his heirs. After that comes any other sons of the monarch and their heirs, followed by any daughters of the monarch and their heirs. Roman Catholics are barred from succession under the Act of Settlement (1701)

The Royal Line of Succession is:

1 - HRH Prince Charles, The Prince of Wales

2 - HRH Prince William of Wales, Son of Prince Charles

3 - HRH Prince Henry of Wales (Prince Harry)

4 - HRH Prince Andrew, The Duke of York

5 - HRH Princess Beatrice of York, daughter of Prince Andrew

6 - HRH Princess Eugenie of York, daughter of Prince Andrew

7 - HRH Prince Edward, Earl of Wessex

8 - Lady Louise Windsor, daughter of Prince Edward

9 - HRH Princess Anne, The Princess Royal

10 - Master Peter Phillips, son of Princess Anne

11. Miss Zara Phillips, daughter of Princess Anne

12 Viscount Linley, son of Princess Margaret

13. Charles Armstrong Jones, Viscount Linley's son

14. Lady Sarah Chatto, daughter of Princess Margaret

15. Samuel Chatto, Princess Margaret's grandson

next in line after Queen Elizabeth II is Prince Charles. on account that he has no daughter the prospect of having yet another Queen of britain is while Prince Wiiliam might have a daughter. yet while Prince Charles, Prince William and Prince Harry dies (IF), Princess Beatrice will ascend to the throne, for that reason making her the Queen of britain, till Prince William or Prince Harry might have toddlers via then. If Prince Charles will grow to be King of britain, Camilla isn't Queen of britain, her identify will the two proceed to be the comparable or might have an more desirable rank, yet she would be waiting to not be queen. If Prince Charles and Camilla might have a daughter (narrow narrow hazard) then the royal family individuals will might desire to talk approximately it first. whether it won't in any respect exchange the certainty that Prince William and Prince Harry would be the 2d and third in line for the throne respectively.

Technically, Charles, then his son William, then his son Harry, then sideways through the other relatives of the Queen and their heirs. However, due to some quirky other laws, there are some who think Charles may not ever come to the throne since he married Camilla (since she was divorced) and so William might be the heir presumptive. Politically, this would probably also be a wise decision for the royal family, since people tend to have a soft spot for Diana's sons and some people are still not fond of Charles, though since he married Camilla the dislike seems to have lessened in certain quarters....but in any event....

Everything was laid out in the Succession Act of 1701, here's a nice brief explanation from Everything 2 (http://everything2.com/index.pl?node_id=1300246 for the article, which actually goes into more depth about the current royals later on as well, so check it out if you want to, there are also some nice quirky little laws about Roman Catholics and succession you might be interested in as well as the Abdication Act and such.)

On the death of a British sovereign (= monarch) they are succeeded instantly by the next in line to the throne. This is despite the fact that it is at the coronation, which may be more than a year later, that they take the coronation oath and the lords choose to accept them and swear fealty to them.
The order of succession is automatic, based on birth and sex, with adjustments for religion and marriage. The monarch is succeeded by her/his eldest son, if any. The order of succession goes downward before it goes sideways, so if the eldest son is dead (or otherwise ineligible, due to other laws), that eldest son's children come next, before the monarch's second son. Then the second son's children. After all the sons have been gone through in order of age, the monarch's daughters in order of age.

"Prince Charles stepped down and next in line when he married Camila because a future king or queen can not marry someone who has been divorced. "

Absolute twaddle. What tabloids have you been reading? There is nothing in the British Constitution to prevent a king marrying a divorcee. A possible monarch, however, must have the approval of Parliament to marry. In the case of Edward VIII, Parliament refused permission. They didn't with Charles and Camilla. In any case as both Charles and Camilla's former spouses are dead it doesn't matter any more.

I don't know why this question keeps being asked. Prince Charles is Prince of Wales, and heir to the throne, and always has been. His marriage makes no difference, since he didn't marry a Roman Catholic, the only reason he could be disqualified by law.

Either Prince Charles or Prince William, some say that Charles stepped down to marry Camilla, but this lacks validity

that's a simple question: the oldest boy, or, if no boys, as in Her Majesty's case, the oldest girl. Her Majesty's oldest child, which would happen to be Prince Charles, is going to take the throne. if the prince abdicates, Wills gets the throne.

Prince Charles and then Prince William.

There is speculation though that since Elizabeth has not yet given up the crown, it may go directly to William on the event of Charles' death-- or Charles may give it directly to William.

Prince Charles of course, being the eldest son. His controversial marriage to Camilla doesn't change anything.
If he dies before Camilla, she will be given some other title and William will be king, being Charles' eldest son.
