Yes, you should, were it not for laws established by those in higher authority. I would hunt you down and murder you for no reason at all if I were athiest, and there were no laws and no God. It is the mere fact that people have a basic understanding of what is right and what is wrong that points to a Creator.

No.
If you're an atheist, then you don't believe in God, so obviously you won't be concerned with obeying His laws (ie, the Ten Commandments including "Thou shalt not steal.") However, you are still a member of society & are required to obey the society's laws, one of which is not to steal. You face criminal prosecution if caught. I would hope that whether you're an atheist or not that you would have a conscience & would not want to do anything to intentionally hurt someone, such as stealing their car. But not everyone has a conscience. Perhaps then fear of punishment (jail, anal rape) may deter you...
You are not allowed to do anything that hurts someone else. But at the end of the day it's the one in the mirror that you have to answer to. So if it doesn't bother you & you're not afraid of being caught, then nothing I can say will make a difference.
I keep my doors locked & have a car alarm so you won't be getting mine!
:)
Try to be good. What if there is a God after all? Try to live by the golden rule. Treat others as you'd like them to treat you. You wouldn't like someone to steal from you, would you? Karma is a *****. Remember what goes around comes around. Put good things out there & it comes back to you. Put bad things out there & watch out. It'll bite you on the butt someday...

Just because you don't believe in God or have a religious moral code, does not allow you to break the law and steal another person's property. The law is not subjective to atheists. In fact many atheists that I have heard of, have alot of respect for laws, and the well being of others in general, you don't have to be religious to know what the right thing to do is. If you want clarification of how you can have respect for others and the law and not be religious, go and read the philosophies of Immanuel Kant and Jean Paul Sartre.

of course not.
1) religion is not the only source of moral theories. so being an athiest, one can still be subject to objective moral guidelines if they do exist. Atheism does not logically result in moral relativism.
2) somethings being immoral is not a precondition of it being socially harmful. so even if one can't prove anything is moral or immoral, one can still say that certain types of actions are harmful to people insofar as they damage their property and their person and we as a society don't want people to be unfairly harmed
3) in light of a judgment as to somethings being very harmful, we can say that such things should be regulated by law, not because we've proven they are immoral, but because as a society we feel we want to prevent harmful and unfair things from happening.
in that way, you lay a social utilitarian groundwork for a legal system without reference to a morality. but even if you have to ground it in morality, it is not necessary to believe in god to do so.
this is elementary stuff. moreover, even if grand theft auto is ok for an athiest, this does not mean there is something wrong with atheism. it merely means the belief has bad consequences, but having bad consequences is no evidence whatever that a belief is true or false.

The crime of grand theft isn't something that God decided on. We as a society are the ones who said it is wrong.

Why do you include the word Atheist ?
You've never heard that Atheists believe that they're above the law.
It's questions like this, silly, childish that's giving religious believers a bad name. If you want to promote your religious beliefs, do it in a senseable way. Grow up, maturity isn't so bad.

Are you suggesting that being an atheist gives you special rights?
Cause I'm atheist and all it tends to get me is judged by everyone else. No special rights, no good parking spots, and a one way ticket to hell.
It's not all its cracked up to be.

If you're into hurting other human beings, being irresponsible, unloving and hateful... then go ahead. You have the right to choose how you want to act. Just be equally ready to deal with the consequences of your actions.
