The Females have two teets on the lower part of their bellies. With males, you can make their penis come out but gently pressing above there genitals. The Female usually has a very smothe area around her genitals, and looks like a "Y"...

This site tells you more about it.

As far as temperment goes, males and females are about the same. Females are usually a little more active then males and they stay smaller. Females can also be put with more that one with out a problem, but males can be iffy. Other than that, they aren't much different at all....Hope this helps...

There are many differences, physically and behavior wise. They both have two teets, and like humans, the males are much smaller then the females. Males also have, and I have no better way of putting it, balls that are noticable when you see them walking away from you. Now this isn't scientific, but I've had many guinea pigs over the past 18 years and males seem to be a bit more outgoing and curious about their surroundings then females, especially if the male isn't the only guinea pig a person has. Males aren't neccessarily bigger then females, I've had little males and huge girls. All that said, I love both and have both and they are a joy to have!

I have had guinea pigs for quite a few years and male guinea pigs do not have teets. To tell the difference between male and female just put them on their backs and take notice that between the hind legs of the male are his balls ,the female has two teets, which means that she can give birth to two young piglets,if there are more than two then those piglets are in danger because momma only has two teets and is only able to nurse two babies, rubberstampr

Fist, pick up your guinea pig. Look between its back legs. If it has a set of balls, (you can't miss 'em), then its a male. If it has a slit, its a girl!
