I have been on pill for nearly 4 years. Occassionally I miss one or two in row, but take them and carry on as normal - not getting pregnant. However, this week I have been unwell and have forgotten to take 3/4 in a row. It is in the second half of my pack. Is this ok?

It's not ever ok to take the risk. The second you remember that you forgot, go take it. You should be taking it at the exact same time evey day. If you take it at 6 when you wake up, keep an emergency pack in your purse so if at 10 am you remember "Oh **** I forgot," you have a back up plan. Missing even one pill can be taking a huge risk no how long you"ve been taking the pill. Unless you are willing to deal with a baby, don't take the chance.

1. pull out the information leaflet in your pill packet and read it THOROUGHLY

2. if you have had sex since missing those pills then go buy a pregnancy test from the chemist or supermarket and see if you are pregnant. They dont always show up in the first 24-48 hrs regardless of what they say on the pack

3. if you havent had sex since missing the pills then use alternate contraception.

4. remember also : with all the STD's out there, pregnancy could be the nicest thing that happens to you with unprotected sex. Much nicer than contracting HIV or a raging case of herpes

You can get pregnant even if you miss one, so get yourself checked out because getting pregnant whilst on the pill can be very dangerous as the risks of ectopic (pregnancy in the fallopian tube) is very high. Go get yourself checked out and if you miss a pill you normally have to wait up to 14 days until you are completely safe again, 4 days I would call very risky, it all depends on yoru fertility though and that of your partner

Best of luck

Continue with the pills but also use other protection until the next month. Your could ovulate late in your cycle so it may or may not be an issue. If you miss reguarly, you may want to consider a monthly patch or the depoprovera shot which is only every three months.

You may get pregnant. Usually you ovulate about 10-14 days after your period. SO think about the dates and take extra percautions. If you have only missed 2 double up, but if you have missed more finish out the month. You may spot, so expect that.

Depending on the pill (ask your Dr) they will have you toss the pack and wait til you start your period to resume the pill or wait until Sunday if you are a Sunday start method.
Use a backup method until you get through another pack of pills.

If you miss a dosage of your birth control you could end up pregnant. I would be cautious when having sexual intercourse. And I would definitely use protection if you want to avoid wondering whether or not you may be pregnant.

Is it ok???? If you want to get pregnant it is. If you have been taking them for 4 years I think it would kind of hard to forget.
