So many gays and lesbians that I know have dogs and cats... I also notice that there are many lesbians and gays in feilds where they are at service to animals, or services that uses animals in positive ways. Why is that?

I love animals too! My cat Griffin lives with good friend, since I cannot have pets in this dump I'm in! Since I've lived here, I got one feral cat ( that is loving) into a good home, a pregnant feral cat (also loving) into a shelter where she will have her babies, then all will go into loving homes, then I also trapped 3 wild feral cats to have them spayed and neutered.
I called animal control on a couple of situations in my neighborhood.
I'm always looking out for animals! Animals and Trees!

I don't think gay or straight people have a monopoly on being the biggest animal lovers, I'm sure it's 100% equal but I do believe that so many of our family members chose some of those fields because you find a higher clientele of sensitive caring and open minded people. They don't have to worry about being belittled on that construction site or that oil derrick or that battle field. Why be miserable and belittled when you can be Happy and Kiss and Hug sweet doggies and Kitties.

Simply compassion. I am a gay woman and am extremely activre in many causes for the safety of animals. I don't think my sexuality has anything to do about this. it's just these animals are living and loving beings, just like most of us. And like us, need love, attention, compassion and a warm home to call their own. There is such loyalty in these pets. They are my babies! Good question.

Maybe they're just more loving people than the ones that spread hatred everyday.
I'm an animal lover too, but I was raised that way. My family has been animal lovers for generations. ;)

It's true! I work with a bunch of animal-rights people and maybe half of them are gay. I personally think it's because they can identify with being the underdog and feel bad for the animals because they cannot speak in their own defense.

i think that it has to do with empathy most of the lgbt people that i know are more empathic than the general population.
