Just that, why are people so shy and introverted? How can I meet people with a thirst for living? How do I meet someone who wants to share my outlook in life? How do I meet someone who doesn't do drugs or drink? What is up with so many people drinking and drugging? Get a life!

Maybe the number of people who are introverted hasn't changed. Maybe its just that you encounter and hear about people who are introverted and there are actually still a lot of people who are extroverted. I don't think more people are introverted, most of the people I know don't have a pessmistic outlook on life. You might be looking in the wrong places for people who share your outlook.

Academia breeds introverts! (or at least tries to :p)
However, you make a mistake of assuming introverts do not have a taste for living. Introverts can be very exciting and engaging individuals. The biggest difference being that they normally need their down time away from large crowds and people, since that is not where they draw their energy from, unlike extroverts who feed off people. That doesn't mean you can't be part of that down time, though. Introverts can hold very engaging relationships because the bond between two people doesn't depend on going out to clubs and partying all the time.
About 70-75% of the population is extroverted, by the way.

People are introverted because the world has made them that way. It's very hard to know whom to trust these days. We that don't drink and drug seem to be in a minority these days. We deal with life on it's terms without the aid of chemicals to cope. If you have hobbies, join a group. I agree it's had to meet people these days. Put an ad in a local newspaper in the personal section and see if you can meet someone. Good luck.

Maybe if you are really, really extrovert - than everyone else will seem introvert......
or maybe you should give the introvert people some coffein - they are easily affected, you know. And then you can have some life and action for some hours?

we introverts have been around for years
we just don't talk about it
a church which is well grounded yet open to the contemporary end is a good place
oh and the "get a life" remark
we've been saying that to extroverts for years

Most people are shy and introverted because they're afraid of what society will think of them. They're afraid of what people will say if they actually are their true selves. As for meeting people, I haven't a clue...I'm one of those shy, introverted people. (not a druggie or a drinker either.)
