Because motor sports test the coordination and reflexes of the drivers. Though most of the power comes from the vehicles, it still requires physical skill, thus fulfilling even the most conservative definition of sport.

ok do people actually have nothing better to do then really continue on about this question. Sorry but the way i see is most people cant even drive reasonably on the streets where they live. As well as being on a track they would be crying for mommy on the first lap at full speed.lol

Cause its a MotorSPORT. Drivers are as much athletes as bowlers and golfers. If you dont like it dont read about it.
