this had to do with making tv medical dramas or movies, I think, (this ISN'T "blood types", as in A negative etc), it's about the different ways they have to show the blood as an effect, ie. fresh from a leg wound (as opposed to a heart wound), several hours old, coagulated, etc. What are the eleven ( I think it was) different ones?

NO, people, do I need to say it AGAIN? This is NOT about "blood types", like A positive or B negative, this is about cinematic types of blood---as in TV, MOVIES.

As a retired med lab technician, let me see what I remember from the dark ages... There is venous blood, a dark red, that is in the veins and flows back to the heart through the veins. That's the blood usually drawn from the forearm for blood tests.. There is capillary blood, which comes out of a finger stick, or a a surface cut. It too is venous blood. Then there is aortic blood deep in the body. It is the blood freshly pumped by the heart.. Coagulated blood is clumped as in a freshly formed scab. Or the dried blood found at the murder site. Anti-coagulated blood has not clotted and is a result of having Heparin or another anti coagulate added to the blood. Some blood tests require blood as it comes from the body, un-clotted and so the tech will draw the blood into an 'anti-coag' tube and invert the tube a few times to mix the blood with the anti clot agent already in the tube. If the tube is let to stand or lie still, the red cells will settle out and the plasma will separate to the top. Before running a test on that blood it must be re-mixed for several minutes to be sure the two factions have remixed. In a small lab you will sometimes see a flat plate slowly rotating. This is the mixer where the tubes are placed to assure the blood is properly mixed. In a tube without anti coagulant the blood is let to rest and will clot automatically in 15-20 minutes. Once the tech inverts the tube and sees that the blood has clotted, the tube is spun down, the serum decanted to another labeled tube, and the clot discarded. The tests are done on the serum.

I don't seem to be able to come up with eleven kinds of blood unless you want to count blood types. There is A, B, AB, and O. Each type has a positive and negative. (8)... A positive being the most common and the universal recipient, while O Negative is the universal donor. There are sub-groups of c, d, and e for each of the 8 above, and by now many other subgroups have probably been discovered.

Blood clotting: If you have a cut or scrape, or skeeter bite, do not wipe away the blood. Instead apply pressure. What is happening is that small shreads of fibrinogen, part of the blood are gathering to form a web. That web will catch and hold the red blood cells like a small dam. The cells will clot together and form a bigger clot. If you wipe away the forming clot, the fibrinogen has to start all over making its web and catching tiny red cells to start the clot. Sometimes you think the site won't stop bleeding. Well, it will if you stop wiping away the tiny beginning web that holds back the red cells. That's why they say to not look at a larger wound. Keep the pressure in place and get medical help. Every time you release pressure the small starting clot breaks open and the bleeding begins again.
