In Romans, Chapter 1 of the Bible, its says that "God set eternity in the hearts of man..." Not only did He create us in His image but He gave us a soul that longs to know its Creator. Some people recognize this "God-shaped vacuum" within themselves and accept God's love. Others are not aware of it yet, while still others choose to stifle or reject it. It is God alone, our gracious, loving Creator, who put that desire in our souls. He leaves the choice of whether to follow Him or not up to us.

It is a sens we all have since we are born, that there's something else and not only us in this Universe. Foolish the one that thinks we are alone. Considering the enormous universe around us, considering it comes from "somewhere else"...but let's face it: God is not a concept we as humans can deal with. The concepts the religions give us are so primitive, so primarly that can't fullfilled the concept of God as the concept of universe we have now. Yet the more I advance in science, the more I believe in God. God is the Universe plus one...God is something that has the Universe within...so, you see, the point is not if a non-believer prays when he needs it, but just that he before didn't accept the models of God, that religions propose...

In times of crisis, people are desperate. Even if they don't believe in God 100%, they're hedging their bets. Hey, maybe there is a God. Can't hurt to ask His help. Sometimes things are beyond our control & we could use a little divine intervention. Many people turn Christian when they're approaching death. Heaven starts to look like a more attractive prospect when you may be on the way. Easier to be an atheist when you're young & feel invincible.

Last ditch effort. Never is religion a more attractive crutch than in times of crisis. Look at how many people "find god" in prison and conveniently forget him again when they get out. No one had to put that desire there. It's human nature to seek comfort when in need.

Cause prayer is a pwerful way to bring about whatever you need in your life. You are never more in need than during crisis. So thats why people turn to God. Becuase that is our generic word for all the energy and matter in the world.

They turn to God because in times of crisis they realize that no one else really cares about their problems (especially after sharing them a few times). People lose patience with a person who can't "bounce back" quickly from any situation. It ruins their "mall experience".

It is an instinctive response when one feels alone. If we are isolated and no one else can help us, we turn to a higher power in the hopes that it can "fix" things for us. It fulfills a psychological need for a parental figure. At some point in our lives, our problems become too complex for our parents to solve. God is a replacement for the parents we turned to in our youth.

Good question. The belief that god can solve the problems that people can't solve put that desire there.

many people have a desire to beleive in a greater being it gives us a sense of scurity to think that something other than our own flawed beings that have control of our lives. As to why soo many only go to him in times of trouble those are the ones that want to have complete control of their own lives and fear not having complete self-control and as to why they only consider him in times of trouble is of course to have somthing to blame which gives a sense of security which is what it all comes back to humans need to feel secure and thats a way for them to find the security that they depend on.

People like to clutch even a straw when they are drowning.
Who put the idea there?
Televangelists repeating over and over that "Jesus will save you", yet people in normal state of mind can see through that, but when they are desperate and cannot think straight you are ready to believe anyone.
