What type of system would be best? Terminal-to-host, file server, or client/server?

Which protocol and networking switching device would be best for five computers and wireless computers

In many cases, you will need a router and a switch. The router will connect via a dedicated data line over a phone cable to a bigger ISP. The switch (wired, wireless, or both), will provide the connections for your customers.

your most likely going to need to get DSL if you only have phone service. After you get that you will need a wireless router. If you are just looking for internet access you have no need for any type of server. The router will handle the Ip addresses, same deal for the five computers you are talking about. After you have the router depending on how many network ports it has to connect the wired computers you may also need to add a switch for those wired system. Protocol should just be TCP/IP.

Really depends on the type of phone service. Phone service could be with DSL.

i think you need a wireless card. I have one and you can get wireless internet from anywhere.
