Poor baby. Just be patient, I know it hurts you more than it really is. But you can just continue giving him his formula and if it really concerns you, talk to your pediatrician. Mine told me that it's very normal for a small baby to poop sometimes once a week, especially if he's breastfeeding. As long as he is not in pain and there isn't blood in his stool, I think he'll be okay. But always go to your doc if you're worried. Remember, a mom knows what's up with her baby.

Are you breastfeeding?? Most breastfeeding babies don't
have this problem unless mother is eating gassy foods.
If he/she is on a bottle, I would change the formula. He/she
is not digesting it properly. I've heard that goat's milk formula
or plain, does a world of good.
Give your baby a bottle of warm distilled water with a little
dark Karo syrup--maybe 1 tsp.
As a last resort--there are suppositories that can be bought
at the drug store. Ask the pharmacist if they are for babies
only. An adult suppository would be bad for a baby.

try some of the prune juice they make for when they first start eating solids. The gerber brand is awesome. It's a first choice. If that doesn't work, they have baby medicine for gas and constipation.

You didn't mention what he's eating; I only know about breastfed babies. Mom's milk is a natural laxative, plus constipated babies are often slightly dehydrated. Nurse, nurse, nurse and baby will get better. Dr. Sears also recommends giving formula-fed babies a bottle of water every day in order to prevent constipation.

My doctor told me to mix 1 ounce of baby white grape juice with one ounce of the purified water and to feed that to my son starting one time a day and if it doesnt work to give it to him 2 times a day. Hope that helps and congratulations!!!

You can buy suppositories at just about any store. You want the ones that are just glycerin. My pediatrician told me about these when my son was an infant. It really worked fast and it is completely safe for babies.

Lay your baby on his back. Pull his legs up so his knees are touching his chest. This should help him push things out.
