A Rock and a Hard Place by Anthony Godby Johnson

Anthony was forced to sleep in a closet and was seldom fed. He was abused by his parents and his parents allowed their friends to use him sexually. By the age of 11 Anthony ran away and was thinking of commiting suicide. He ends up calling a 1-800 teen line for help. A man who lived half way across the country managed to get him help. anthony's social worker and the man who helped him realize that Anthony is very sick and get him medical attention. The couple soon fall in love and marry. They also adopt Anthony. His test results come back stating that Anthony has AIDS.

This is an Autobiograohy and the author Anthony was only 14 when he wrote it. He died shortly after finishing.

Reading The Glass Castle made me sad. It's a biography about a haphazard childhood in poverty that didn't have to be so difficult. The parents were irresponsible and one was an alcoholic. It was sad to see the deprivation the children went through.
