Where we shall express freely in creativity and intellect for the future of America. Help other cultures improve the future of their children. Instead of giving an AK-47 to a child, how about a paint brush? Do you know the term "actions speak louder than words?" Well my question for the is how about portraits?

Why do you blame the USA when another country chooses violence as a path for their kids. Why is it America's fault?

In fact, isn't that half the world's beef with us, that we are exporting a philosophy and way of life that is unwelcome to them?

Blame the idiots who are preaching hate and handing the AK-47's to the kids. Don't blame the Americans that they are shooting at.

Make Art, Not Bombs? I like it.

If actions speak louder than words, and a picture is worth a 1,000 words, then a picture (art) could make a great impression.

But to the question should (or can) art be taken more seriously in the US...I think you're asking for too much. Art is great as a foundation for a non-profit mission, but there's no money to speak of in art (unless you're a dead artist whose paintings a lot of people like), and a free-market society such as ours is powered by currency and not good will, unfortunately.

That's not to say you can get Americans to value art (and music and humanities, etc.) more, but that may need to start at the elementary school level where, right now, music programs and so on are being eliminated due to budget cuts. And then there needs to be a sustained effort to promote art in high school, college, and beyond. We also need to elect politicians who value art in order to properly steer policy.

The Internet, I would say, has been a very good thing for artists. It created a huge need for design (websites, ads, logos, etc.) so there are probably more artists employed now than there has ever been in history.

Anyway, great idea -- make it happen!

Look around you. there's no escaping art in the USA. Look at the architechture of houses and buildings, the landscaping, the cars, the trucks...art is everywhere. We are a society of people that love to express our individulaity in every aspect of our lives, from our personal appearance, to our vehicles, to our dwelling places, etc., etc. If all you see is a people at war, or politics, then you don't have an eye, let alone a mind, for art. Open your eyes. It's right under your nose.

Indian have to admit 2 country conception and provide promised correct of self decision to Kashmiris. If no longer, then each Pakistan and India have to teach and liberlize their societies, suppress devout fundamentalism and gain knowledge of to recognize every others values and suggestions. Indian and Indian Govt must give up blaming the whole thing going improper of their nation on Pakistan. What is your defination of terrorism incidentally. Killing of one hundred,000 Kashmiris from 1989 to 1999 isn't terrorism? Killing of Muslims in Gujrat isn't terrorism? Muslims make eleven in keeping with cent of Indian populace and but they get handiest three in keeping with cent of employment in Govt Sector. However, I trust you that US must no longer furnish cash to Pakistan Govt. They are corrupt and scouse borrow cash and cash waft backs into overseas debts, leaving the weight of loans on normal Pakistani men and women. That is why China does not provide economic upload to Pakistan however builds dams, roads, harbours, industries and different infra-constitution that is helping Pakistani men and women.

Yes. Through art (in any form), much more substantial aspects of life can be achieved and understood. Unfortunately however, most human beings only care for such things after the fact.....

All - they are all relevant. But art = open minded, outward thinking, self expression, thought provoking, insight/inspiring - moving forward - opposite of narrow minded fundamentalism that is creating hate.

You must be a sophomore in high school.
Have you ever heard the term nonsequitur?
Perhaps this ? should be in the fine arts section.
