HELL NO!!! I'm struggling with this as well. If I was alone I think I would just give up. But it's not only myself I'm trying to keep alive. And I'm still going to work every frigging day. So NO! I don't think it's worth it to work myself to death just to stay alive. But it IS worth it to keep my son alive.

Maybe, and maybe not. It depends on what you are working on. I would work on things that would get you ahead of life, and as a result, make things a little bit easier. Kinda like getting a college degree vs working straight out of highschool (for most people).

I guess as a personal example, I got a job offer to work at this company, but the hours were terrible....like 50-70 hours a week. However, I knew after working there, it would shine on my resume. So after busting my *** for a few years, I'm not worried about ever finding a job again since my resume is good.

I have a friend who started in the mail room of a company, and after busting his ***, he's a full time trader...So it kind of depends what you work on and how you work on it. Is there potential for upward growth?

not working yourself to death. if you are working yourself to death, that means you are not really enjoying what you are doing in life. i have made it a strong practice in my life to not take most things too seriously. i learn to enjoy what it is that i am doing. i have found along the way when i have fun while i work, i am more successful. and i have done this in every aspect of my work life... from when i was bartending to now that i have an actual career that i plan on retiring from.

by having fun, i don't mean slacking off or not doing my job well. I will admit i am relentlessly anal, but i have learned to not let the little things that i can't control, piss me off. not everybody is going to be doing exactly what they want or what they saw themselves doing in the future, but if you don't find some way to enjoy it, you will die miserable. it's kinda like that song "if ya can't be with the one you love - love the one your with".

when i have felt like i was working myself to death or found it impossible to have fun at my job or enjoy my day - i either needed a vacation or a serious career path change. and i would do what it took to change what was making me miserable. life is too short.

no but that seams to be what it takes in America to get to a comfortable place it life. work 70+ hours a week just to make enough money to end your kids to a good school, or to save enough to put a down payment on a house. it sucks but that's what it takes

I don't think so. It's better to take time and spend it with family and friends then to be working all the time.
