get a profesional plumber to quote you. he is covered by liability insurance should something go wrong. £100 would seen about right for profesional plumber

Remove & clean both traps, bath trap will have a lot of hair in it,sink trap well I'll let you guess. That should solve the problem cost £0-00, brownie points from wife ( well have an early night ! ) Bath & sink wast should be run separately, as for your friend £100 he wouldn't be mine for much longer. Ps get your wife to clear out the cr*p from under the sink that will take the longest time

To start with, plumbers are expensive, whether they are friends or not, but getting a second price without him knowing about it would be in your best interest and wouldn't hurt anyones delicate feelings. My uncle is a plumber and his motto is "other peoples s**t is my bread and butter". My motto is "look out for number one until number two comes back up the pipe and then call a plumber"

SOUNDS from here (the US) as though it's quite a bit of money. Have you had a plumber run a snake (coiled wire with a cutting bit on the business end) through the pipes?

Tell him to BOG OFF!
Go to B&Q, and buy the bits, max £20.
But I bet the blockage is in the "u" bend, just undo the bend, and clean it out, ( 10 minutes MAX)!
