Supposedly, she went to see a taping of "Are you smarter than a 5th grader?" with tickets that also entitled her to see a dress rehersal of American Idol.
At the dress rehersal, she was so emotional that the producers porposely invited her to see the taping & sit near the front (so the cameras could find her).

I think it basically comes down to being starstruck and overwhelmed with joy. She looks to be around 12 or 13 and an experience like that for a girl is like a dream come true to see all of the favorite performers. Why did all those young girls cry when they saw Elvis or the Beatles back in the day. American Idol is basically the most popular music show on TV today. Look at all the successful stars that have come of that show and she knows she's making her own history being there. Even if she doesn't realize why she is so overwhelmed. Remember how the girls acted on the Ed Sullivan show when Elvis was on... I'm sure you've seen past clips. Same thing. Those were tears of joy! Some girls are just more emotional than others. Plus being right up front didn't hurt one bit! And I suppose the reason the media is giving her all the attention is because they thrive on human reactions/emotion/drama and she was a perfect person to single out. Most everyone will do the "Awwww Reaction."

More likely than not, the girl is nothing more than an aspiring actress that is "performing" for a fee.
This is done on most all live shows on television. Haven't you ever noticed that all the people in the front rows are all young, in great shape & pretty? They all seem to be mesmerized by the "performers", often chanting the words to a song, dancing with their hands in the air.
It's a "show" and other that the family members, the people in the front rows are paid to be there.

Simple. She was overwhelmed and star struck, a camerman spotted her and singled her out and the rest is history. No big deal. Young foolish girls get this way over nobodys.

Because she is young, sweet and adorable. It makes for good t.v. A warm hearted story of a little girl and her favorite Idol contestant. Sure beats all the death, tragedy and despair we usually hear about huh?

No way...I think she cried cause she's too F*** happy that she can watch it all live. Maybe she won a ticket? Lol. If you've noticed, she cried not only at Sanjaya's performance...so why the attack on sanjaya? C'mon, he's improved already! Hahaha....his performance got better at least.

Because she's pathetic.
It's sad when a contestant (That Sanjaya whats-his-face) gets votes for making a little girl cry. XP
But I swear she probably got payed to do that.
