A liberal education is one in which a bell curve is used in conjunction with life experience to justify the admission of unqualified students into the classroom.
A liberal education is one in which some facts are touted as incontrovertible while others are picked over with a fine toothed comb.
A liberal education is one in which a Professor can spout "conspiracies" or alternative theories on the destruction of a building whilst other Professors must remain dumb on other subjects.
A liberal education is one in which three young men can be flunked from a class, ostracized from the community, and have their lives destroyed by their Professors all on the strength of an accusation.

to me this equates to the standard of teaching in our school systems today. that mediocrity is great and under achievement is good. and that schools are teaching tolerance about everything, and not sticking to the basics that most kids need more and more. when my son came home with a letter from the teacher, he's a first grader, telling me that i wasn't raining my child right because my son drew a stick figure person in a yellow crayon. and that was degrading to a Asian child in the class room i blew my top. what are we coming to when we have to spend some much wasted time when we should be teaching, i just don't get it.

When I say liberal education, I'm thinking broad, and expansive. No political affiliation included.

They refer to the education that is too 'complicated' for them to understand.
They prefer the 'I am happy under my rock' type of education.

I just hate it when my professors (only 2 so far) decide to voice their opinions, yet i am paying them (with my money) to teach me, and yet i am hearing exactly what Keith Olbermann said last nite. I get so sick of it, even if i agree. I pay you to teach me, not to teach me your opinions
