I am interested in hearing from all sorts of people, but especially people in favor of the war. I don't want you to tell me why it began (or why you think it began, since there are alot of opinions) either, but why the US is there now.

Lori, this is news to me. When exactly did the war end (because I must have missed the news that day), and how does the part called "war" exactly differ from the part you call "stabilization"? If the war is, indeed, over, then why are 20,000 new troops being mobilized?

Is4031: Wow, I'm sorry I bothered to ask. Maybe since you "understand" so well, you could be patronizing and explain it to all of us who just don't "get it." By the way, were you intentionally trying to avoid actually answering the question?

If you don't understand it by now. Then anything I tell you, you will not understand. I am not trying to be rude. It is the same question that has been asked since day one and people just don't get it.
So I give myself two thumbs up. Why? Because I have two thumbs.

It's interesting to read some of the answers on this question that has gripped the country and the media. One in particular is the "New World Order (NWO)" conspiracy that's been around for decades. Some thought the President Reagan wanted to set up a NWO during his two terms in office. It didn't happen then and it won't happen now. The other theory is this is a fight for oil. Interestingly, there is some truth to this but not to the extent that others think. Right now, we live in an oil based society. Most everything we use is oil based or run on oil based product (like gasoline, plastics, and solar energy panels). It is said that whoever controls the oil supply essentially controls the world. However, this war in Iraq is not mainly about oil. It is a very small detail of why we are still in Iraq and Afghanistan.
The world has become a more dangerous place to live in. Terrorism and Islamic fanatics will use any means necessary to gain control over the whole Middle East, including wiping or destroying the only democracy in that area, Israel. Iraq and Afghanistan have new governments that in the beginnings of a new democracy. This will take years. President Bush II has not put a timeline on when this will end. Why?, because until evil has been completely vanquished from the world, murderous thugs like the late Sadam Hussein and Osama bin Laden will continue to exist spreading their doctrine of hate greed for power.
Another reason for us being in Iraq is I would rather have us fighting over there than have the fight in our land. This might seem clichéd, but it is true. We now more than ever need the "Patriot Act" enforced and allow wiretaps to continue so we can feel safer in our homes and community. Will we be able to catch every terrorist in this country? I hope so, but the odds are against it since we have a congress that is so uptight about having someone eavesdrop on our conversations. If they have done no wrong, then they shouldn't be so worried about what they say over the phone or typed on their e-mail.
Iraq is being attacked not only by terrorist from Iraq, but also from Iran, Jordan, Syria, and Saudi Arabia. These murderous thugs are trying to provoke a sectarian civil war by bombing mosks and sacred sights. They are also attacking civilians at celebrations. This is their attempt to destabilize a government so they can come in take over and rule with an iron fist. And if you think the death toll under Hussein was bad, I'd hate to think what it would be like under a new regime of Islamic Extremist.
These all still seem so clichéd, but I feel this is all true. I am not going to comment on those that think or feel GW is an idiot or selfish. They negate their opinion by name calling. It takes little or no intelligence to call someone stupid or selfish. I will leave it at that.
For it starting, we started having problems with Hussein in 1991 when he invaded a small country known as Kuwait. The objective of Desert Storm was to drive the Iraqi Army out of Kuwait and back on Iraqi soil or sand. This mission was accomplished in short time. Then the U.S. found that Hussein was attempting to developed nuclear capabilities and searching for enriched uranium. The U.N. drafted no less than 17 resolutions in order to stop him from these developments. There were U.N. attempts of sending inspectors to his country. At first, he would welcome them with open arms. He would even allow the inspectors to go to area or building him new full well that they would not find any evidence any types of chemicals used in WOMDs. When the inspectors asked to search other suspected buildings, Hussein threw the U.N. inspectors out of Iraq. Resolution 1441 states that if Saddam Hussein did not stop in his quest for nuclear armament, there would be dire repercussion. And since the U.N. was little more than a pawn for Hussein, President Bush and U.S. Congress took action and ousted Hussein from power and a posed threat to not only the Middle East, but also the U.S. and our way of life. Many of these so-called insurgents are former Bathes who feel they should still be in power.
I hope this sufficiently answers those questions posed by you.

The war is over. The US is currently trying to stabilize the country. The Iraqi government can't stand on it's own. Withdrawal would leave it ripe to become part of one of the vulture nations that are soooo eager to see the US gone so they can start picking the bones.
****A war ends when one army (or the other) gives up. The Iraqi Army disbanded. The Iraqi government disbanded. The war is over. What we have going on right now is not a war. It's what happened after every war that has ever been fought. There are always those who continue fighting even after the war is over.

It's no longer a warfare among "2 Iraq agencies". It's an insurgency/counterinsurgency among many unbiased agencies, us, the Iraqi executive, and different coalition forces within the nation, as good as interference from external antagonists like Iran and Al Qaeda (neither of which might be affiliated with each and every different). Giving in to nonsensical rhetoric again residence from individuals who understand not anything approximately the army or approximately what is fairly occurring there's neither in our bests pursuits, nor Iraq's. The Iraqis stand to be in some distance worse hazard if we flake out and go away earlier than they are equipped to fend for themselves; to not point out the extra harm it'll do to our repute as good as total international terrorism (terrorists could tout an American withdrawal as a HUGE victory, and could be emboldened to convey out extra assaults and begin extra operations everywhere in the international). Given that you just your self have most often not ever as soon as been inconvenienced via this warfare, have not ever needed to carry a finger to combat in it or give a contribution, or have not ever been in my opinion attacked or threatened via terrorists, I surprise why you even care. If you DID care, you would hassle to truthfully be taught what is going on there from the individuals who've BEEN there, instead than political rhetoric from individuals who stand to reap politically from an American failure foreign.

If people tell you it is about money or oil, they are surly deluded by ideology, as both resources are more easily gotten. All great powers have acted this way. When Britain was at the height of her power, the idea expressed was, " to make the world England ". A delusion of another type. When we blocked Japan from oil access they used that as justification and rationalization for war. Also, a delusion. Not for resources and not for women, as that is reserved for small pre-state societies. For power. When you have it, you use it or lose it. George Orwell saw this clearly, power is for itself, irrespective of other cause; all else is self delusion.

"Military men are just dumb stupid animals to be used as pawns in foreign policy" - Henry Kissinger
They wrote in the old days that it is sweet and fitting to die for one's country. But in modern war, there is nothing sweet nor fitting in your dying. You will die like a dog for no good reason.

The Illuminati Rothschild banking cartel.has set its goal to integrate the Middle East into the "new world order" at the expense of the U.S. soldier and taxpayer. This is the true nature of "imperialism."

This autobiography of a British spy in India, China & the Middle East writes in detail how the British infiltrated the Muslim world. What we see today is a continuation of his work back then.
This war diverts the attention of the American people from what is being done to them right under their noses. It serves the same purpose, I am sad to say, as the focus on Anna Nicole and Britney.

Iraq has more oil than Saudi Arabia, lighter and higher quality, closer to the surface and much of Iraq has not yet been explored.
Bush and the boys want to set up a NWO headquarters in the Middle East. The current genocide is helping to clear the country. The global elite is dividing its minions into two "house teams" again. The last time this happened it resulted in the Fascist-Communist slugfest called World War Two. The same satanic cabal controlled both sides and picked Germany to take the fall.
This time, the U.S., Britain and the "coalition of the willing" are on one side. On the other are France, Germany, Russia and China. The centre of global power is moving to China, Europe and Russia. There will be a war with Iran over control of Middle East oil. Yet Nick Rothschild has been spending a lot of time in China lately.
The US will find itself increasingly isolated and vilified as a result of the Iraq war. The hidden agenda is to bring down the world's last superpower; to replace the UN with a new instrument of "world government"; to kill a lot of people, and to wean Americans off democracy and their high standard of living.
Iraq is a trap. It is intended to lower American morale and weaken your forces for when the real fighting begins. The United States has squandered the sympathy and good will it earned on Sept 11. The images of the World Trade Centre have been replaced in the world's mind by the spectacular explosions in Baghdad.
The damage to America's moral authority is incalculable. After this war, who will have sympathy for Americans if Chinese atomic bombs rain down on Los Angeles and New York? The devil degrades his victims before he destroys them.
Americans are distracted by jingoism and jiggle; they are being set up for a nasty fall. The leadership class has already "left the building" as it were. Just as they left Germany before the complete fall of the Third Reich. The end of the Iraq war will find the United States isolated and reviled.
As the Bush cabal tries to push its advantage, it will come into conflict with China and other nuclear powers. A major confrontation will ensue and an overextended US will be humbled. Americans will take a greatly reduced place in a new world order.
