I have a fiery relationship which is very wearing with constant bickering shouting dark moods (his not mine) try not to in front of son age 10 but sadly it happens occasionly, son and dad are so close he takes his dads side constantly and recently seems to have little respect for my authority pointblank refusing to do as i ask. I was in the middle of telling him off for being rude to me when partner steps in tells us both to shutup tells me off in front of son for raising my voice but surely i have a right to tell him off when he is being rude? i am a really loving mum and not violent or anything like that but im finding this really difficult any advice?

Time to leave the relationship. It's clear that your significant other has no respect for you, and he's passing that on to your son.

Once you get out and get in your own place, put your foot down and tell your son that you will not tolerate any disrespect. If your son doesn't learn to respect in the home, there's no way he'll ever do it out side the home.

Your partner shouldn't belittle you in front of your child because then your child will grow to have the same values as your partner does...which isn't good in this case.
Try and speak to your partner and explain that he needs to respect the fact that you are both parents to your son and your son should be taught to respect you both equally and not end up taking sides when there's an argument.
You definitely have a right to tell your son off when he's being rude, you deserve just as much, if not more respect than he's giving to his dad. Your partner doesn't really sound like the understanding type, but he needs to know that he can't treat you the way he does and not put you down or belittle you and your decisions when it comes to your son. Maybe your partner needs to go on some anger management course or something?
If he won't try and control his anger then get out of the relationship because it'll only get worse.

You need to set an example for your baby. shouting isn't going to solve a thing. Stay calm and simply tell your man and your son, " I don't like the way you are talking to me. It hurts me. Please don't talk to me like that." Be kind and firm when you say it. Mean it.
I am reb girl.( Can't help it..lol) That kind of treatment brings out the scrappy in me!
Find your scrappy in you and teach your son that you shouldn't allow that kind of treatment ..no matter who you are
Go and try to heal and love those rowdy boys! Good luck. :)

My family's like that.my dad critizises my mum all the time infront of us. now my brothers do the same, they yell at her and stuff and nobody can do anything to stop them. they have turned out to be physically violent too just like dad. so if you don't want the same to happen go and see a therapist

Your son will eventually become like his father. i would seek a family therapist, if that doesn't work out I would think it would be time to move on from he relationship.

Your husband is right. You should respect his wishes, and life will be a lot easier for both of you.
