5’9” is too short to play quarterback anywhere but pee-wee. The reason I say this is because your offensive line is usually around the 6’0” range meaning you can’t see over them which is very difficult for a quarterback. My advise is for you to either try your hand at running back or kicker, maybe even safety.

Doug Flutie was only 5'9" and did pretty well as a quarterback. He was not a Peyton Manning or a Joe Montana, but he was pretty good at what he did. So, no, 5'9" is not too short, if you have the skill. Today's professional quarterbacks are all pretty tall and have some weight behind them, so you would have some pretty stiff competion to make it into the big leagues.

By today's standards; YES; all the way down to pee-wee football.
Coach is always gonna look for the taller player at every position; especially QB.
He may 'settle' for a smaller, shorter player if the player has good skills; tries hard; and there is no one taller with the same skills or better.
And then you have to deal with the team owners and what they are willing to spend.
The only reason short QBs make it in college is mostly because they are playing at smaller, lesser known schools with fewer challengers for the position.
Don't listen to all that Doug Flutie crap.
He was an EXCEPTION to the rule. An anomaly.
QBs that are less than 6' 3" aren't that readily sought after anymore; no matter how good they are.
One of the reasons San Diego let Drew Brees go is because of his height; 6; 0".
Phil Rivers is 6' 5".
Both are good QBs.
In this years draft, you can bet that the QBs that get picked in the early rounds will be 6' 3' and better.
If one is good enough and less than 6'3", somebody might take a chance if they can get him fairly cheap.
Take it from someone that doesn't get caught up in the hype.

None of us is to say you're too small ,especially as an option QB. There are many small option quarterbacks . A short QB running an option offense is hard to pick up behind a taller line. Also if your still in the 9th or 10th grade your gonna get even taller.Learn to take care of the football. You do that and you'll play somewhere.

No some people may say so, but no. Whoever said too short for college didnt watch the most amazing QB this year in college.. the Heisman winner, Troy Smith. Whoever gets Troy Smith is going to get a very plesant surprise.

College and NFL heavens yes, but for high school, that's OKAY, but not great. I guess it doesn't matter if they're a good quarterback. More like a running back really.

Depends on what level you are talking about, and, even then, what league. For example, Flutie was too short for the NFL because he couldn't see over his line(the linemen today are huge) ; However, he is a hall of famer in the Canadian Football League.
5'9 is short for Division one college, but not for Div II.

Definetely for NFL, still short for college, but probably ok for high school. I dont know what age group you are referring to. Doug Flutie has been a backup for 95 percent of his career, why, because of his height.
