I live in north east kansas. The soil is good and damp most of the year excluding the month of august. I'd like bright colors and either long blooming or a variety that would go from one type then right into another as the first dies off. Please help. Thanks.

Marigold's are so pretty, I have some growing right now. And some "sunflower's too!!" Grow whatever you like, hun!! There's so many too choose from this time of year, and they all have pictures of what they look like on the bags at the stores, you know.. Sunflower's grow so fast, and tall, too!! My daughter has her own growing, and we just planted her's not even two weeks ago, and there already about 3" to 4" tall already!! Growing like weeds, they are!! And its so cool, because we did it, with our own hands!! I just love "Gardening!!" Isn't it so rewarding when you begin to see your results sprouting-up!!?? I just love doing this every year, at this time!! smile!! Enjoy your time in your garden for us on yahoo!!!
