I doubt it... its just trained behavior. I sleep with the TV on and if it isn't on, I cant fall asleep. If the TV isn't on, I have my fan on.. both a lot of the time.
When Ive had to sleep without any noise... it drives me nuts for about a week... then you get used to it. You just have to train yourself.
The fan wont harm you though...keep it on if it helps you sleep.

Well as a kid if you lived in a hot area and the fan helped you to cool you off the most simple explanation for this is that the fan is now associated in your brain as a "good" thing which comforts you so now it makes it much easier for you to sleep with the sound of a fan.
and no, the noise isn't bad for your ears at all the noise of the fan isn't nearly as high of decibals to damage your hearing.
I hope this helps you out.

It is a habit.
Not really bad for your ears, but in sleep it might not let you sleep as deeply because your brain has to process the sound.
My daughter thinks her kids can't sleep without a fan or a noise maker, They can sleep without them at my house.
It isn't a bad thing except it controls you, You need to be able to sleep no matter where you are or what you hear.

They do have electronics that makes sounds like rain, the sea, etc. and those might help with getting too chilly in case you're able to pass to sleep with those noises. you additionally can positioned a timer on your fan so as that it would pass until eventually you pass to sleep yet then turn off.

Well it's not that bad, you just need to work on a long term plan on how you want to stop listening to the sounds of the fan, you need to turn it low every week till you get to a point yo don't nid the sound. Cheers mate.

I'm the same way. The fan is so soothing, but if it startes making an odd noise then I'm awake and trying to make it stop (the odd noise).

No, it's natural to want some ambient noise while dozing off. I made a recording of my dog growling and coupled it with an audio tape of a porn movie. Both together put me right to sleep.

No--and that is pretty common, I need that sound myself.
Mine even runs in the bedroom if its -20 degrees outside!
It blocks out normal home sounds like the furnace kicking in, or the toilet flushing. It also helps block sounds from outside--like traffic or birds.

Nope. I sleep with the TV on. Not really turned up, just barely any volume. I have to have it.
