Right now the side of our house looks completely bare and is an eye sore. I am looking for something that will help increase the value of our home since we will be moving and also look nice.

i live in Elizabeth City, NC and the big thing here are azaleas, although a nice hedge always adds alot of value.

but my personal favorite are hydrangias. they need morning sun and evening shade- or they'll burn up. also what cool about them is, depending on the fertilizer you use, you can make the flowers blue or pink--more acidic= blue, more alkaline= pink (it may be the other way around, i alway get that mixed up)

You never mentioned if the side of your house had windows or a deck. If you have the space of an empty outside wall you may try planting some Honeysuckle...it gows well pretty much anywhere. It smells great, fast growing and very pretty flowers. It is a climber and will need a trellis or you can place string along the outside of the house with nails, or use an old piece of fenceing.

If you choose Honeysuckle be sure and get the fragrant one and not the trumpet variety. The Trumpet variety grows well too and has pretty flowers, but it is not fragrant and it attracks aphids.

Another great climber is Jasmine. Mmmm, love the smell of it too.

Azaeleas (sp) are great and they should work for your climate. They come in several colors, sizes and varieties. Good Luck!

Do you want something that climbs? Try morning glories.
