We started it now it's only fitting that we end it. If we up and left Iraq to it's own power, what would happen?

The neo cons should have thought of that in the first place. Our first obligation is to our own.

You are correct. How unfortunate that the shortsighted don't see the turmoil that it would cause not only in Iraq but the whole world when facist Islamists realize that they CAN bring a world power to it's knees. Iraq would become the terrorist abyss of the world in weeks after we are done withdrawing all of the troops. There would be nothing else positive accomplished there and Iran would feel much safer continuing their nuclear weapon programs and thumbing their noses at the UN, us and the rest of the world. Oh yes, what about the dishonor that it brings to the dead who were in-fact commited to taking care of business over there. People need to get a grip and educate themselves about what is happening without all of the political rhetoric going on right now. Buying into the "who cares just get out" mentality is just a lazy way of not giving a sh*t. Sad...

According to the US Constitution we do not have an obligation to be over there. We were part of the rape of Iraq, now we should get out before more of our servicemen and women get killed for nothing.

Iraq is decimated. If we left them alone, zero would happen. We have almost every nation on the planet hating us because we will not mind our own business.

9/11 was not orchestrated by Iraq. Bush admitted it. So why are we over there???????

John Quincy Adams said about America:

"But she goes not abroad, in search of monsters to destroy.
She is the well-wisher to the freedom and independence of all."

People say they love war and so respect the forces but hate it and they hate what they do. They love war but they hate to fight it and they hate the sacrifice that comes with victory. In the conflicts that went well there was a concensus that we were committed to do what we had to do. If this goes sour for the United States it will mean that we lost the war in Iraq, and we lost our credibility, the people here lost loved ones, the country lost money, and the Iraqi people lost any semblence of safety. The only ones that would be able to be declared the victor here would be those people that seek to do harm to this county.

If you feel obligated to Iraq, by all means get over there and spend the next 30+ years that it will take to fix it.

It would be a disaster for the Iraqi people and it would show the terrorist and the rest of the world that we are weak . They'd be laughing at us while making their plans to attack us.

We should never have started it in the first place. I am thinking the Republican party has an obligation to Iraq.
They broke it, they bought it.

Fall of 2008 is up and leaving????

That's a year and a half!

This should have been over in 2003 when Bush proclaimed "Mission Accomplished" and "Our troops are not on a nation building mission"!!

Actually this occupation should never have begun!

We have no further obligation!
Iraqi's do to themselves!

It is our responsibility to finish the job we started. It's up to us to stamp out the ideal muslims have that they can control the world via terror. What if we hadn't gone into Iraq and Afghanistan? Would the world be at peace? NO! I say nip it in the bud.

Depends upon how you define "war." There is something to be said about leaving a country as a heap of ruble.

We deposed a tyrant, stabilized the country long and well enough for their 'leaders' to adopt a constitution and elect leadership. We have given billions in aide and thousands of our people. It is time for them to stand up and fight for whatever they really want. Our assurance should only be to protect them from invasion from other countries until they are able to do that for themselves.
