Totally depends on the teacher you have. In my school our teacher was really hard and he made learn the table in one day. It was work after work after work. You can't get off easy. But i've met other students that have had teachers that are more laid back and aren't really hard.

I have a degree in chemistry. I remember thinking it was all so hard and mysterious. It is very simple, really. There is just a tremendous amount of things to learn and they all build on what came before it. My best advice would be to try to stay ahead of the class and work very hard to not fall behind. The extra work will allow you to learn in class rather than stressing out when you don't get a minor point. The first year was the hardest for me because it was mostly mathematics type problems. The key is to not lose sight of what they are actually asking.
