Have my own fruit trees, berry bushes, and vegetable garden and STRONGLY advise others to do the same. While the chemical in question is used as a rat poison in China, there is NO logical explanation how rat poison gets on grain. the question is did whoever do this know it was going to be used in pet food or did they think it was destined for human consumption? This is a warning to those who missed out on the E Coli story, bad people want to hurt us, and they aren't all running around toting guns or bomb belts on the far side of the planet. They want to rule the world, that means attacking us right here at home, and they hate dogs almost as much as they do pigs. Be wary, be prepared, and don't count on the cover story no doubt will be coming on the pet food to be the truth. Demand accountability and better food testing and security, grow, thoroughly wash and prepare your own food as much as possible and encourage everyone else to do likewise. Everyone had "victory" gardens during the last two world wars, time to face reality.

It's a little scary. However, they are not saying the food was purposefully poisoned (though poisoned none the less..) I hope that human food production is more carefully monitored. But you've got to assume that the cheaper and more processsed, the more likely it is vulnerable to tampering. (but isn't "potted meat" pretty close to toxic anyway?) It's always a good practice to support your local agriculture if posible and avoid the foods that are only one step above pet grade. I make my own food for my dog anyway. But no matter what, it's really sad for anyone who lost a pet and you can bet the lawyers are already hard at work...

the deaths with the rat poison happened because dog and cat food is packaged in the same facility as the rat poison (just wet food like in the cans not dry) its in the same facility because the company doesnt have enough money to buy another place ( the company used substandard equipment and didnt follow regulations to make more money) bottom line buy brand names even though its more expensive its safer
it will probably never happen in human food because the facilities are different

There ought to be more security measures on this sort of thing. As it turned out, the poisoned dog and cat food was linked with some gluten purchased from Asia. (most likely to save money). However, it was costly to pet owners, in vet payements, and treatements. Worst of all, it cost the poor animals their lives.

There are supposed to be, but I wouldn't doubt that terrorists could poison our food especially because of the lax or non-existent immigration laws. One has to wonder how this could have happened especially since that rodenticide is not even legal in this country. One hates to imagine this is only a test of their latest try at exterminating us! Pravda.

You bet. I'd grow all of my own food. Veggies, fruits, beef, pork & chicken. No problem. Bring back the agriculture that America was based on. Trade something else with foreign countries. Keep our food safe.

I'd like to find out what sadistic f*** put the poison in there in the first place. I'd love to spend days slow-torturing the bastard.

That is why we have the Food and Drug Administration. They have inspectors at meat packing plants and other locations. I feel safe.
