An arms race is when two or more nations at odds with each other try to outdo each other by developing better weapons. So if one country gets the bomb, the other country will then try to get the bomb. Then the other country gets a bigger bomb, and so on.
There was an arms race between the US and the Soviet Union during the Cold War. We got the nuclear bomb, then about 5 years later they got one too, and it just escalated.

Lyrically, "Arms Race" is classic Fall Out Boy. Kicking off with the potent lines "I have the lyrics / I am an arms dealer / Fitting you with weapons in the form of words," the song will have fans picking apart meanings for months to come. There is a touch of the sinister entertainment emcee about the song which seems to indicate a touch of influence from the band's proteges Panic! At the Disco.

Do they really say arm race?
I thought it would be arms race.
Of course arms are weopans cos the soldiers used to have daggers and swords close by their arms and hands.
So I would have thought it was the same as weopan race.
Like who has got the biggest rocket?
Or have I missed the point entirely cos I dont know the song context?

countries which are trying to out do each other with weapons, ships, planes etc...... it was most obvious at the start of WWI and was one of the causes.
