Someone said that to me recently but it sounds strange as we dont find incoming texts listed on our bills in the UK

Yes it will come on your bill if you don't have international text messaging. It also depends on the carrier because some text messaging plans are you have unlimited text so it does not charge you if you text someone in Canada.

I know people who live in Canada have to pay for incoming and outgoing calls on a landline, i'm guessing the same would apply to mobiles.

yes, depending on their service and provider. Some plans have no text messages included and therefore they pay per message.

i think so. To recieve text messages, they charge you like 5 cents... or something like that.
