Well,I am a girl and like both depending on the pets personality!
Please help yourself from making assumptions!

I am a girl and I hate cats. I have three dogs, one is a huge Rott. the other two are maltipoo's both a boy and a girl. Most men I know would Prefer a cat, with the exception that there are still some who would stay away from the furr balls and stick to man's best friend. I just think your reading in to this Theory too much. But if you need to read somewhat of a metaphor for your fixation...men Like cats because they don't need attention and affection every time your present. You can come and go with out the cat even showing the slightest care in the world that you even it's own...Cats allow freedom...you don't have to fell TIED DOWN by the thoughts of do I feel like taking her for a walk, is she at home chewing on my favorite hat right now? Or I don't feel like taking her outside to use the restroom. Cats offer their company with a compromise; they use the kitty litter, the sleep most of the day and their not that active, not to mention you don't have to worry about how your cat will treat company/strangers. They usually can care less. Now dogs on the other hand are opposite that. You have to show love and affection you have to take the time to train them right from wrong. If the dog is a big dog you have to observe and regulate their potty time. You have to keep it active, go on walks, let him play out side act. The dog is constantly depending o your every move. For you to tell him what to do and what not to do. Dogs need consent attention and both men and women know men do not have such a long attention span. But some men are willing to give their love to a B*tch. Lol. But yeah you’re thinking too much....

Not true. Some girls like dogs, while some prefer cats (I'm the latter). Some many boys like dogs far more than they like cats. I'm sorry to say that you're just being narrow-minded. It's not entirely your fault. The vast majority of us who overly misinformed. More than half embrace that.
Anyways, where I live it is about even, with dogs winning slightly for both sexes.

where did that come from? Never heard it that way-It's always been little boys love puppy dogs and little girls love kittens. I'm a Dog Lover myself-I love my cats, But I'm a Dog Lover-Most Definitely!

You got it backwards. Girls like cats and boys like dogs. Girls like cats because they are independent. Boys like dogs because they can be controlled.

If that is true, its because dogs provide security & are very attentive--2 things women like.
Men would like cats because they ignore them & only come to the men when they absolutely need to be touched--something that maybe men would like?

I don't know I can't stand cats my hubby has one since before we were married I think its plotting to kill me! I want a dog! A pug maybe??

i havent heard of that before. usualy what i hear from the girls in terms of cats and dogs is all they talk about are how much they like cats.
