Okay, roughly: An E-book is a book that is not published on paper, because it's electronic. There are many ways to get e-books; usually, if you go to an online bookseller that specifically deals in e-books, they're very cheap and easily downloadable. As to writing an e-book: think about how you would normally write a book, but keep in mind that it'll never see print... You should still write a professional piece of work, and have it edited; however, there are companies that charge next to nothing to convert your manuscript into an e-book. Now, as I wrote earlier, they're very cheap; this means that you may not get as much in the way of royalties unless it's really good. I know this because I self-published a book through Xlibris.com, and the book is available in both paper and e-book versions. Still, I recommend looking at several online publishers and choosing the one that's right for you.

An E Book is an Electronic Book. Basically it's a way of distributing your written material.
To sell an E Book you need to write a book, copyright it and then find a program like Adobe Acrobat or Word or another word processing program. Set up a web page with a shopping cart to sell your work or go through an existing distributing system.

an e book is just a book soemone wrote that they are selling via the internet in a downloadable form instead of having it printed and selling it as a hardcopy.
you can write about anything as long as someone wants to buy it
downfall - people who purchase your Ebook could print copies of it and sell it without your permission easier then they could copy a hardbound book.
option - if you want to write a book and self publish try a company like www.cafepress.com, they allow you to sell your book online in a print on demand form, basically similar to an Ebook, you do not have to pay to print 50 copies up front, the book is printed when the person orders it and mailed directly to them, and appears like a regular book when it is recieved!!
PS if you use cafepress put me down for the referral :) my ID is shopaholicchick

An e book is any book published online by an e publisher. People pay to download and read it. Any book can be an e book, however I suggest you consider learning spelling and grammar before you consider publishing anything. Pax - C.

Write a profitable ebook - in two steps.
First: You need to find out if you are writing something that people will WANT to buy.
Second: You need to know HOW to write a great ebook.
1. Find out what is selling, and why...
It's one thing to sit down and write an ebook on a subject that fascinates you...it's quite another to get people to buy it. In other words, avoid the disappointment of writing an ebook which, however good, simply doesn't find an audience of willing buyers.
How can you know what's selling and what isn't? Do a search online for top-selling ebooks. See what the most popular subjects are, what the titles are and everything else you can find out.
Spending time on researching the most popular subjects and titles can have a big impact on your final results.
2. HOW to write a profitable ebook...
Make Your Knowledge Sell!
A guide to writing successful ebooks, by Ken Evoy and Monique Harris
On to stage two.
Do you have an ebook in you? Almost certainly.
Whatever we do in life, we build up a body of knowledge and expertise. The trouble is, all too often we think, "Hey, nobody would pay money to find out what I know."
You'd be surprised!
People write and sell ebooks about a whole range of subjects (and make a lot of money doing it!)
- photography
- travel
- music
- cooking
- raising teenagers
- grooming pets
- collecting
- home repair & car repair
- small business
The list is almost endless.
On a personal note, I have been trying to persuade my son to write an ebook. He knows a huge amount about mountain biking. And he's a natural writer and teacher.
So what holds him back? Maybe it's the fear that he can't do it. Or perhaps he feel that if he writes an ebook, nobody would be interested. Nobody would buy it.
What is his challenge? Insecurity. And that's what it boils down to for many of us.
Most of us have knowledge we could put into an ebook. And yes, there really are people out there who want to know what YOU know. (And yes, thousands of people have made good money by selling their knowledge in the form of ebooks.)
We just need to overcome our natural insecurity and find the right support to help us make it happen! Whenever we face a new challenge or task, it's good to get a helping hand from people who have been down the same road, overcome the obstacles and learned how to succeed.
If you do a search for 'writing ebooks' online you'll get thousands of results from people trying to sell you something. And who knows. Maybe some of them are great products.
But when my son is ready, I'll suggest he buys and reads a book called Make Your Knowledge Sell! By Ken Evoy and Monique Harris. I have known Ken for years. And not just 'known' him in the virtual sense of the word. We live close to one another, and I know him personally. He's a decent, honest person.
So I feel completely comfortable is recommending his book. Besides which, I have read it myself and published my own ebooks.
