Without exploring the religious implications of your Question (that would make me seem boring and air-headed), I'll just say that the devil you DON'T know is far more dangerous than the devil you do know.
It's in a similar vein to the old saying, "keep your friends close, and keep your enemies closer." The insipid stuff that's going on without your knowledge is what you should worry about.
But not TOO much...that would make you paranoid.
