You'll be at a great hotel, so enjoy the beach. Don't miss "Las olas Boulevard"; you were not in Ft Lauderdale if you did not go there. Las Olas is full of restaurants, cafes, art galleries etc. It is great just to go walking through. Galleria Mall on Sunrise Blvd is close by. There are other places on each end of las Olas which are worth it too; on the west side is Riverwalk; go walk by the side of the river. They have Sunday Jazz brunch the first Sunday of every month. On the east side is the beach and all the restaurants and stores in front of it. The "Beachplace" area becomes a little like South Beach at night. Take a water taxi along the canals or a sightseeing cruise. Go to the Everglades... there's so much to do. Here's some links that will help you.

This is ridiculous man!!!

I used to live in Fort Lauderdale (Edgewood area/State Road 84: a stone throw from Fort Lauderdale/Hollywood International Airport & ten minutes drive from Oakwood) and I can't even tell you what you could do to enjoy yourself besides going to North Beach (or Hollywood Beach) for a delicious dip in The Atlantic Ocean!

I guess when you live somewhere, you don't necessarily end up doing "touristy" things, know what I mean?

I don't even know where your hotel is located; it's by the ocean' shore, I would assume?

Go to Fort Lauderdale downtown center and work your way from there; there's a really nice marina nearby with lots of restaurants and small stores.

Oakwood is the place we used to hang out if you're looking for big names stores such as Old Navy, Ross, K-MART,etc., and you'll be able to eat at restaurants such as Red Lobster, TGI Fridays and you'll find a real nice diner too called Moonlite Diner just off the Regal movie theater; what a mouth-watering treat!

It really depends on what you're actually looking for and interested in or willing to do.

Good luck & have lots of fun!

I so envy you! You have no idea! I live in East Texas now by force, not by choice. I never wanted to leave South Florida and I think about my life there every single day...
