I agree with the above answer, Kincade leather is Argentine cow hide and usually will not break in properly, and it wears terribly. If you have had lessons you will be fine with a close contact saddle, as learning in an all purpose will train you to be lazy (rely on your saddle for support too much). Go to a tack store and sit in the saddle you are going to buy, it has to fit you and your horse properly. Buying a used expensive brand is 100 times better than buying a cheap new saddle. The best saddle makers are Cliff Barnsby, Crosby, Henri De Rivel, and Hartley (All English made). Bates dressage saddles and pessoa hunt saddles are nice too, Collegiate saddles are nicer, and probably more so in your price range 300-700$. Avoid anything Argentine made (silver fox, lane fox, weaver, kincade) note: many saddles claiming to be American made are constructed of cheap Argentine leather and do not hold color well and wear terribly. Good Luck, enjoy your new horse.

This is a nice saddle for a lesser price. However, I am wondering did your trainer tell you to get a close contact saddle? Your best bet would be to get a nice all purpose saddle instead. A close contact saddle is a difficult saddle to learn to ride in, you need a good leg position to ride in a close contact saddle effectively.
Buying a new saddle is nice in thought but the leather is tougher (and Slicker) and takes a while to break in. You should look at local tack stores for a nice used saddle. You can get a great used saddle for less than that new one. Also ask around at your barn, there may be people who are looking to sell one.
As far as tree size, if you don't already have a horse, get a medium to large tree. You can always add padding and foam to help fit a smaller horse. But a saddle with to small of a tree can not be made larger. The adjustable tree saddles really are not great for the horses back. Make sure to get your trainer's input before you spend the money.

I'm not a huge fan of the Kincade brand. It's inferior quality and it shows in the price. I suggest finding a good used saddle of a brand name. Look for a used HDR, Ovation, or Collegiate. These usually retail for between $700 and $1000 new, so you should be able to find one used for at least $500, maybe less. These saddles are proven quality and they'll last as long as you take proper care of them.

i am not a fan of kincade, though, since it wears poorly. my advice is get a wintec all purpose with the cair panel and easy-change gullet thing because they are comfy for both horse and rider and they're easy to clean, since they're synthetic. the gullet-change system allows the saddle to fit pretty much any horse, too! the one i'm talking about is $500 and the gullet thing kit is $90. or the dover circuit saddles are good quality for what you pay for them.

Nice! All round English riding saddle. Comfort is all important for rider and horse combined. Good price too.
Of course, you will be getting your horse before you get your saddle, right?
