All I have to say is DO NOT, I REPEAT DO NOT judge Americans by American talk shows. Jerry Springer does not represent reality. These shows mostly feature people who pretend to be mentally disturbed for money. They are not presenting their actual beliefs, and even if they did, most Americans, that is, the majority wouldn't be caught DEAD on those shows.
I'd have to say that America doesn't really export a whole lot of video media that accurately portrays itself. The media conglomerates pretty much crank out crap that they think the world will watch, despite the yawning inaccuracies.
The majority of Americans don't have a problem with interracial relationships. A few people do. But, get real, I've been to the UK, several times, and there are a few people there who are very conservative and have a problem with interracial relationships, too. Also, please don't tell us that "everyone gets along fine" in the UK. Yes, MOST people get along fine, but you certainly have your conflicts, just like us.
Please don't make sweeping generalizations about the U.S. unless you've actually spent some time here. If you have spent some time here, I'd have to say you arrived with a lot of incorrect, pre-conceived notions and failed to observe that they were wrong, while here.

Totally agree with you but what you've got to remember is that a number of Americans have small minded views generated from their ancestors. The KKK are still going strong in Mississippi, Georgia, Alabama and other Southern states and the Bob Jones University, not only didn't allow black students, but also didn't allow inter racial dating. I have read somewhere as recently as a few years ago that a high school had two separate proms-one for black students and one for white students. With things like this still going on today, are you at all surprised? I'm just glad that it's the minority and not the majority.

I'm british and I don't agree that Americans are like that. I have travelled in America and their society is very multi racial and the people are extremely friendly. I don't think talk shows is the best way to get an accurate representation of the American people.

No it would not. Moses had a spouse from Ethiopia. examine this tale interior the bible and spot how God dealt with this. Numbers 12:one million each of ways via... Numbers 12:sixteen additionally Ruth grew to become right into a Moabite and married a jewish guy and Ruth is interior the geneology of Jesus. Esther married a gentile king and with the help of that ended up saving the jews. Esther grew to become right into a jew. Many attempt to apply the "don't be unequally yoked" verse to assist no longer marrying out of your race yet this verse is refering to marrying somebody no longer a christian...it says no longer something approximately the place a guy or woman grew to become into born or the colour of their epidermis. additionally they % to apply the "God cursed Ham with darkish epidermis." concept. This additionally isn't stunning... the concept that the exterior colour of black human beings is a effect of a curse on Ham and his descendants is taught nowhere interior the Bible. besides, it grew to become into no longer Ham who grew to become into cursed; it grew to become into his son, Canaan (Gen. 9:18, 25; 10:6), and Canaan’s descendants have been probable brown-skinned (Gen. 10:15–19).

The talk shows you see are capitalizing on the worst aspects of society-- that's how they get viewers.
In most large cities, interracial relationships are very normal, at least in my generation and younger (born in 1967).
HI back atcha, by the way! :)

american talk shows dont exactly represent america
(on the other hand, sometimes they do *shudder*)
anyhow, its because there are underlying racial tensions, that comes into the picture even before relationships is ever considered

What have you been watching, Jerry Springer? There are so many multiculturally mixed families over here. I think the ones who are dead set against these relationships are in the minority. :)

only southerners are against it, and this is a stereotype nonetheless. My best guess is that they are still angry over there loss in the Civil War, and the subsequent outlawing of slavery. In any case, You Europeans need to get off your high horses. Maybe you should be asking yourselves: Why do we incessantly persecute the Jews (Spain, Germany, Russia)? Why did we enslanve the entire continent of Africa and South America in order to satisfy our need for imperialism? Why did people emigrate from Europe to America if Europe is just that good? Gee, I wonder.........

I am in an interracial marriage, I love it because I love my husband. I rarely see him as a different race than me.
Just a note: A lot of black people are against interracial relationships also. All whites are not Rednecks or inbred!
