some parents just ground you or some parents might hit you with belts or wires (which would be abuse)

more than 6 million kids get abused every year

Well I don't think grounding is abuse, yeah it may seem like it's osme type of abuse to the kid cuz they feel like they are trapped or whatever, but no it's not abuse. Hitting a kid with belts..YES, abuse. Now all abuse is not bad, like hitting a kid to let them NO means NO, i don't think is wrong. Hitting them with a belt, that's too far.

physical chastisements.
my stuff would be burnt on a bonfire in the garden.
all the rooms in the house would be locked if i was alone in the house, except the bathroom and the kitchen.
i felt i as singled out as the only child from a previous marriage.
i used to tap my daughters hand when she was a toddler but i have never hit her or treated her in the way that i was.

Punishment for me was writing a sentence 1000 times, a beating and then a white glove inspection on my room, if I past punishment over, if not resume punishment of 1000 words, beating, cleaning reinspection. Now my kids their punishment is loss of computer, cell phone, television, any kind of privilege that will fit the crime. I BROKE THE CHAIN!!!!!!! :) :) :)

Didn't get punished much but when I did...coat hanger (wire) or a belt from my Mom. She did not play at all.

we grew up in different era baby girl. back then, all of us kids would get spanked or get hit. we didn't call it abuse; we just got whooped. to this day, i still don't have any il feeling toward my mom or my grandma for given me good whooping. i probably deserved it.

We always got a three-hour lecture on what we did and why it was wrong and then yard work for the next week. I always hated the lectures.
