Newspaper is not good because of the dyes in the paper. Guinea pigs tend to chew on shredded newspaper.

Any paper which has no dyes or fragrances is fine (like plain typing paper).

I wouldn't use toilet paper, personally, because it is made to disintegrate in the presence of liquids - and when the pig goes potty, it's likely to cause a bigger mess than it's worth. If the pig chews on it, it would also become mushy and potentially dangerous when introduced to their saliva.

When I have had this problem before, though, I used a clean white towel or pillowcase that I didn't mind throwing away.

I don't know-it depends on where you live. If it's not too cold, regular bedding is fine -make sure it's Egyptian with a 400 + thread count though or they get bi+chy. If it's colder, flannels or down are the best. A good bedtime story is always soothing as well, and be sure to kiss the little bas+ards goodnite!

Shredded newspaper is okay until you go shopping for the wood shaving. Newspaper has ink dye in it and that's not to good for piggies, especially because they like to chew.

Or you can use some old t-shirts, with no buttons please, and line the bottom of the cage for now only.

Try tearing up old newspapers, or shredding documents. My guinea pig uses shredded paper, plus he has his own blankie!

Shred up some newspapers or cut up some old socks. I don't think that they are too fussy as long as it is warm. You can get some proper bedding in the morning.

White paper towels. Nothing with ink/dye on it. It'll be fine until you can get more bedding.
