...and she hasn't pooped since yesterday at 11:30 am. I'm getting worried... we took her to the pediatrician yesterday, and he said try dark karo syrup... we tried and still no poop... any other suggestions? She's only 6 lbs 8 oz, and I can tell she doesn't feel good b/c she's getting fussy... what did you try to help this?

it could be the formula or any number of things. But if your child is breast fed then its quite common to go a few days without a poo since breastmilk is used in its entirety. Sugar water is usually the mildest thing around to help it soften up. If she were older Id say a touch of prune juice but probably not at this age. If things were to continue on call your pediatrician to see if hed like to prescribe a suppository stool softener or something of the like. A switch to soy formula can help tummy issues as well....my son was colicky and constipated constantly until I made the switch.

My 3 month old, when she was about a month, was really constipated. I took her to the doctors and they said try changin the formula. We were using similac, now we use nestle good start and she loves it. Sometimes babys will change there pooping habits, and can poop like once a week. If she continues to get fussy, if it were my baby,i would take her back to the doctors.

Are you nursing, or bottle feeding, my pediatrician said that bottle feed baby's sometimes go a day without having a bowel movement, but I would call my pediatricians office and have the Dr. on call, call you back. You are the mom trust your instincts.
