Your accelorator is made up of cables and linkage .. depending on the year and model of your car .
I would suggest you lubricate the cable and linkage .. you can get the proper spray or lubricant at any auto parts store . It could be too that its worn , again I don't know the age of your car so It's hard to say . But if that's the case I would get it checked out by a mechanic , most places will do free inspections , That would be better than going down the road and having no thottle or worse having it stuck open .. Try lubricating it first or even have someone from the parts store look at it .. they are good for helping people ot that way ..

More than likely it is the cable that hooks the accelerator to the manifold. I have never had any luck lubing the cables. I believe that they are coated inside and probably the coating is worn;
