Is it the safety of sitting in their home anonymously that makes them so brave OR are they just jerks reaching a wider audience?

you are so right and i feel like a coward everytime that i am not as outspoken in real life but writing about my beliefs online (in the safety of my home) has allowed me to know more about myself and i am now more brave about saying, " no i am not a christian and it is ok" and other beliefs that i had been proviously afraid to admit to others lest i get judged or thought of as a bad person. Someone said nothing bad comes from self disclosure, i have found that to be very true

Is that an example of your point? Would you have made that statement in a roomful of potentially crazy Americans? There are something like 300,000,000 of us and our mental condition hasn't been all that stable the past few years, so be careful!
I definitely accept your statement (you didn't really ask a question, now, did you?) as true as long as you accept yourself as a prime example of your own point.
Remember: You're the one who implied that all online posters are jerks. You called us craven! Speaking as a jerk, I'm here to tell 'ya, "Them's fighin' words! Put up 'yer dukes."
SHAKESPEARE:
You're condemning an entire nation for the errors of it's leaders. Little eight year old Billy Wilson in Ohio isn't "evil" because our government didn't sign the Kyoto treaty. Most Americans probably agree that landmines are a bad thing.
Excuse me, but you're including yourself in the group of people who are "evil", not the rest of us! Go back and read your rebuttal statement. I'm not evil. I don't even believe in evil. Some of us are out here busting our balls trying to reverse the crap that our leaders are pulling, and you include us in your set of "evil"?
You are making us all guilty by association. Well, I say, if you're so damned convinced that America is evil, then get off your duff and start fighting for what you think is right and stop complaining!
You can start by NOT calling your potential allies "evil". In fact, one of the things that make us feel powerless in the face of opposition is our labelling others "EVIL". Guess what happens when you see another human being as evil? You stop seeing the person and only see the label. You stop trying to comprehend their position and start seeing them exclusively as an enemy. No understanding comes from calling things evil. No healing. No improvement. Only endless conflict.
...And, yes, I AM proving your original point for you.

I kind of feel you on that, they do it to get attention, knowing they can say anything and get away with it, kind of like taunting others while hidding behind a brick wall, but if that brick wall was to come down you'll see a whole different person, same thing on chat rooms and its mostly kids/adults who have no friends or people who where poorly raised and throwing of their anger and hidden feelings

Yea, it's because they're hiding behind a computer. People don't know who they are, where they live, or what they look like. I bet that if Yahoo answers was a web caming sight, there'd be less racist comments on here...

they are brave because they arent directly dealing with the conflict, more like arguing with their screen. its a security thing. they know nothing can happen to them, and no one erally knows who they are.
