My friend's baby is 5 months old and has smelly, and REALLY loud gas. sometimes she even wakes herself up with her own gas. Her mom breastfeeds. Her mom eats high fiber cereal, limited her bean consumption and eats nuts. Is this ok?

Anything that gives YOU gas will give your baby gas...so forget the beans (they aren't the only farty foods lol)...hello the fiber is the problem...lol

Maybe cut out some of the high fiber cereal and replace it with fresh fruits ..she might have better luck that way.

Whatever mom eats is going to go to baby. High fiber will do that!

Yep, anything that gives the mom gas will give the baby gas. Mylicon drops do nothing for my son. Has she tried lowering her dairy intake??? Try that, it's worth it.

she needs to talk to the pediatrician about this and have help in changing the babys diet, if she changes the diet completely and the baby is still having problems the doctor will need to check for bowl problems and intestinal damage or issues.
there could be several reasons but first diet change under dr.'s care so he will be on board for more tests if needed.

A lot of babies are sensitive to dairy. Your friend might want to cut back on her dairy intake. Also try Mylicon for the baby.

lots of babies get gassy...as long as he's eating sleeping and filling up the diaper, there's nothing to be concerned about.
