Hello everyone.

I used to be able to watch full length DVD up to two hours on my notebook when the AC adapter is unplugged... Recently, my notebook can not play full lenght DVD movies because the battery life would run out just after 20 minutes.

I contacted Dell and they told me my warranty does noit cover the battery.

I dim the LCD light to correct the problem, but that did not help. I adjust the power scheme, but that does not help, either. What can I do to correct this problem?

Note: The notebook is now 3 years old.

3 years is a lot of time to get out of a battery. You can try cleaning the battery contacts. If that doesn't work, then you can try reconitioning the battery by draining it all the way down and then charging it back up a few times . If none of that works, you will need to buy a new battery. But like I said, 3 years is a lot of life. You are lucky

It's called battery wear. As you use your battery, the life of the battery slowly decreases. After 3 years of use, your battery is more likely dead. The best advice is to buy another battery or just use the AC adapter.

You can also try to calibrate the battery with a utility in the BIOS, but that most likely wont help much.

i bought a laptop and had everything set up by the geek squad at best buy.... i didnt' buy an extra battery pak but they said after a few years, the battery would have to be replaced because its kind of like a cell phone...the older it gets the less the battery life has on it....and i think they said about 2 to 3 years is about time to get a new battery....
