I hate to disagree with "yourstar" on Johny Depp being propelled to fame by Cry Baby (though he may be right) But even before I read his answer I was thinking Johny Depp but from a different movie...Nightmare on Elm Street. But then maybe Yourstar is right, after all it would be a stretch to call a Freddy Kreuger Film "A romantic comedy" ....wouldn't it?
But how is THIS for propelling someone to fame in a Romantic Comedy ...PAUL RUBENS (Pee Wee herman) In PEE WEE's BIG ADVENTURE?

Johnny Depp - Crybaby. He was already on 21 Jump Street, but Crybaby propelled him from boring TV heartthrob into "Hey, he's a good actor with star power!"
